After many, many months of trying, AT&T/SBC/DISH is finally letting me swap out my 522 for a 622. The CSR informed me that they will replace my Dish 500 for a Dish 1000. When I questioned the ability of picking up the 129 bird here in CT, I was told it will be a "slam dunk", that a second dish pointed to 61.5 is not needed.

I've read many posts here that have said that a second D500 pointed at 61.5 is the preferred way to go here in the Northeast. Should I push the issue for a second dish?? The install is scheduled for 9/28.

That's what I'm worried about with 129, trees might be an issue. I'm hoping they don't try to force the D1000 on me if a second D500 will be a better option....

The HD quality is better on 61.5 as is the signal quality. But a Dish 1000 can work in Connecticut.

I would go out and give those trees some mircale grow to make sure you cant see 129. :D

An update:

Had the 622 installed this morning, and except for the occasional audio drop-outs (optical), I love it!!

When I asked the installer about the Dish 1000, he said the CSRs are told to push those, but the installers will use whatever works best in each situation. He took one look around and concluded the 2nd 500 pointed at 61.5 was for me.

That's what I wanted originally, and with a signal strength of 99 on the 61.5, I'm happy!!!! :D

Condo is bringing a Dish QAM system?

Looking at upgrading to a 622 BEFORE I get the HD TV
