Dish 1000 and 118

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. The provider was going to move us to a new server, however we are now told by the provider the issue is at the data center in St. Louis. They have offered to move us to a different datacenter on the East Coast or West Coast, however at this time we have declined the move to a different data center as it would affect the speed of connecting to about half our members.

We are waiting for more information from our provider, however we are trying to ride this out to stay in the same data center, so that when the server is fixed all users in the US will get the fastest connection possible.

If after some time the issue is not resolved we will be forced to move to another data center, if this happens there will be down time, as they will need to transfer everything to the new server and we will need to update the DNS and other settings for the new IP address of the new server. If we have to do this, the time it will take to move will be out of our hands.

We are going to try our best to weather through this, so we thank you in advance if you encounter any issues.

    Sorry for the issue!

I have a dish 1000 ant and 622 DVR. I currently get 110, 119, & 129 and would like to get 118 also. Is there anyway I can modify my 1000 setup so I can get 118? Can I add another dish and a dp44 switch or do I have to change to a dish 1000+ antenna?

The short answer is, you'll have to upgrade to a 1000+.

The longer answer would be to get a dedicated dish...SD105 comes to mind since the 105 LNB can be switched to the correct polarity...and aim that baby right at the 118.

But seriously, that's a bit of a stretch...not to mention you'll have a medium sized and a large dish on your home. IMO you're better off with the 1000+

I already have a 10' c-band. two dish 500's, and a dish 1000 so another dish is not a problem. Could a 18" round dish be used to get 118 with the appropriate switch?

118W uses circular polarity, how can you use a SuperDish LNB which is linear to pick up circular polarity signals efficiently?

Also, you will need a larger reflector for 118W.

Your best bet is to go with a D1000+.

The 118 satellite is circular polarity and is a bit higher power than what 105 and 121 are.
But, I call B.S. on your 105 "switch." The only way to "switch the polarity," as you say, is to take apart the tiny feedhorn on the 105 LNBF and insert a dialectric plate and then carefully turn it to get the best signal. It will be very difficult to get a steady signal that would work in the rain by "switching the polarity" as you say.

You would rather buy a repoint kit from any number of online retailers which turns your SuperDiSH into a DiSH 1000+ equivalent that does a great job of holding a solid signal.

.

If you grasp the "eye" of the 105 LNB, you can actually turn/spin it. By factory default it's set for linear. Just turn it until it comes to a complete stop.

Excellent, thanks for the tip!
It's worth getting one for the bandstacking feature alone.

**EDIT** removed link to recondite information.

You can do the same thing on SuperDish 121. Just move FSS component to the DBS component position by removing and replacing the 4 bolts(philips/hex combo) found near the component. Of course, doing this will make the rest of the bracket useless as you you won't be getting signal on anything except 118.

Sonicview 8000-HD

Hello everyone!! I just purchased a Sonicview and a dishnet 1000-hd dish.
I hooked up everything and can't seem to get sonicview to work. What am I doing wrong? I rehooked my coolsat 5000 and I can get reception so I must be doing something wrong. Ant advice would be appreciated cause people are saying how great HD is. I just ran 1 wire cause they say it will hook up to all of them.THANKS

You may be better off posting this question in the FTA section.
