I'm new to this but got a couple of friends who aren't are coming today to install my Dish 1000. They however, have never installed a 1000. I have a Dish 500 with great reception, and no obstructions. I want to switch over to the 1000 so I can get 129 and some more non MPEG 4 HD channels with my 811 receiver.

My Lat/Lon is 33.1 and 79.5. Does anyone know the elevation, azimuth and skew setting that I need to start with?

Much Thanks,

Dr. Joe

Just an FYI - I installed a Dish 1000 for the first time last week for my father inlaw and had it completed in less time than yhe installer that did my upgrade :) They are easy to do. If you have done a 500 then you won't have any probs with the 1000. I found if you take the dual lnb (the one for 129) and mount it in the 119 slot, that you can aim the dish and peak it to 119 in a matter of minutes, then go back and install the twin and hook everything up. Don't try to aim it with the lnbs all in place.

Thanks!

Thanks to both for your replies. Will let you know how it goes. By the way, couldn't I just take the 500 dish down and attach the 1000 to the mount that is there for the 500?

Dr. Joe:)

Just make sure that you clear any obstructions - the mount for the Dish 1000 is longer so that you can have full azimuth rotation since the dish 1000 is a different size than the 500 - taken from the instructions. :) At least that is what the instructions say.
