Dish 1000.2 vs 1000+

Have a Dish 1000.2 setup and having some signal problems. Aways lose transponder 12 and 14 on 119. Of course 129 comes in pretty weak as well. I admit I live just north of the border in Calgary so signal is lower than in U.S. My question is would a Dish1000+ make a big difference in sat signal. I have thought of using a dish 500 plus a 24" dish for 129 but would rather stick with one dish. Thoughts?

1000+ and 500+ are larger than 1000.2.

Their distinction is the 118.75/119 combo lnb.

Unless you need 118.75 a lot of money for little return.

We were using the same reflector for the 1000 and the 1000.2. The only difference was the arms were different. We havent done many of the 1000's since we got a lot of .2's. That was interesting that the sizes of the reflectors show different between the 1000 and the 1000.2

Dish 300 Single slot 18" round DBS dish that can pick up programming from one DBS satellite location at a time. DBS locations for Dish are 61.5°, 110°, 119°, 129°, 148° and (not used) 157°. Dish 500 A two slot 18" x 20" DBS dish designed to pick up 110° and 119° simultaneously. However it can be used to pick up 119° and 129° or just one satellite location like 61.5° or 148°. Dish 1000 A three slot DBS dish designed to pick up 110°, 119° and 129° simultaneously. This dish can be used to pick up 129° and 148° simultaneously. Dish 1000.2 Slightly larger than a Dish 1000, its integrated head unit has 3 LNBs (110°, 119° and 129°), an input for a 4th LNB, and DP Plus switching to 3 receiver outputs. Plus Dish 500+/1000+ Same as the Dish 1000 in function but about 5" larger and can pick up the 118.75° FSS location. As a 500+ it picks up 110°, 118.75° and 119°. Adding an LNB for 129° makes it a 1000+. Also, adding a 129 bracket can also get 129 for the 500+ (4 sats)SuperDISH

The mast for the 1000 and the 1000.2 are a little longer. The 500+ being heavier comes with struts like the Super Dish had.

You can, I did.

The extra length gets it farther form the mount which may be needed in some situations, not in others. I did not use the struts either and had no problems for the six months I used a 1000+.

Again though, little return for the money unless you need 118.7.

You would be better off getting a bigger dish for the 129 and using the original for just 110/119.

maybe using two dished would be better, if i'll get better signal. Just uglier unfortunately. Here's a thought. Could I use the dish 1000.2 for 129 cover the 119 ad 110 and use the fourth port for lets say my dish 500 for 119 and 110 with a 21 switch or is the forth port meant for single sat only?

The reflector on the 1000.2 they put up as a replacement for my 1000 was definitely not the same as the reflector on the 1000. The installer and I checked it out closely. The 1000.2 is a little larger and I get much better signal strength, especially on 129.

My 1000 was replaced by Dish because the LNB was dying. Initially it was drift on the 129 odds and the day they came to replace it all the evens were dead on 129.

You'd probably be better off with a homemade dish 500 out of a 30 inch or 36 inch. Then a single 36 inch for 129.
