Disappearing EHD

From time to time my EHD simply isn't showing up. It is physically connected and powered on but not visible on screen.
if I ignore it for a day or two it comes back and works fine.

anyone know where it goes or how to find it?

Possibly bad sleep mode. Try cycling the power and see if it comes back.

I only turn mine on when I use them.

This was an issue with the original Hopper that has been fixed. Do you have an HWS? Sleep could also be the issue as mentioned. This was an issue with Seagate drive on the older VIP receivers.

Mine is an original Hopper. I use Western Digital drives 2 TB Green. I am sure they like to nap.

I've had the problem just once. Pulling the USB connector on the back of the hard drive and then plugging it back in worked for me. You get a notice on screen that an external device has been disconnected and then another saying an external device has been connected, but it solved the problem.

Sounds like the sleep issue may be back for some drives. I'd report it to DIRT so Dish can try to fix it.
