I have an old HR10-250 receiver..is this good for anything other than DT service?

Mod, maybe we should have a sticky list of dedicated - non FTA receivers ??? With the top line saying "if it is named DT or Dish it is a no-go."

The HR10-250 has two HD OTA tuners builtin. With a decent antenna it will work great for pausing / rewinding live TV. You won't be able to record shows, but you'll have an HD OTA "converter box" with trick play.

Tried the OTA antenna

but can't get by the setup on the receiver without having a sat input.

so hook up a cable to DBS 101.....I did that to get my Dish 811 working for OTA

This is when you select "Off Air Only" in the guided setup? If you can't get it to work try to find an 18" dish.

You might try booting it without an access card plugged in as well.

you could hose clamp a LNB to the side of the Dish dish for 101
