Directv Without the Dish

Can someone tell me how this works exactly? I recently moved into a new apartment complex and they say they use DSI? There is a dish at the top of every building in the complex.

Also, I read that I'll need a phone line, however, I have DSL running through that line, can they run simultaneously or will I have to get the internet connection Directv offers instead?

Any help would be great, thanks!
 
Im don't have any idea for sure, alot of apartments have set ups with D* and do have a dish on the top of the building so I guess that could be your situation.
Need more info... if the above situation is true then you probably have a distribution set up in the basement with multiswitch ect., I have never set this type of set up up, but from reading the site it soulds like thats how they would do it.
Use the " Search" button and you will find a lot of referances to apt. buildings.

I will guess DSI is Diamond Systems Inc. your apartment manager should be able to provide a contact phone number for you to order service. You may need a special receiver or equipment if they are using Bandstacking for distribution, which is common in apartment distribution systems.:)
