Those require HD Platinum pack. Not to mention smithonian Hd and MGM Hd and HD movies
Those require HD Platinum pack.
As do many providers, including Direct...Like juan said, Dish offers unstretched Smithsonian, MGM and HD Movies. My work here is done.
But for D* to have hyped this Fall launch for months and months, and then to deliver a grand total of 2 non-premium, non-RSN, non-PPV HD channels, is absurd.
Yeah......like dodger said, so do many other providers. Thats not unique to E*.Like juan said, Dish offers unstretched Smithsonian, MGM and HD Movies. My work here is done.
True, but they aren't really premium. They were included with DishHD Absolute (although not available anymore, I still have them with no extra cost). The only reason they are separate is that they have no SD equivalent, so they don't match up with any SD pack. Of course, Direct's extra pack should be included, too.
Actually, Every blakhawks game will be in HD this year. EVERY GAME! They signed a deal with WGNHD, and Comcast Sports Net Chicago with a couple mixed in there on NBC. All home and away games will be on one of those two channels. I will be enjoying seeing Patrick Kane all everyone else.. Especally when were kicking the Islanders ass in the Stanley Cup
Blackhawks are also playing a game at Wrigley Field I believe. I am not a fan of hockey really, but I sure would like to see a hockey game being played at Wrigley. It would be neat.
So what do you suppose they were doing in the ensuing five months? Trying to avoid striking HD LIL agreements? They certainly knew that HBO and Cinemax would go full HD by the end of July.from what satelliteracer at dbstalk.com has said.....not all of the contracts for new channels are finalized yet so the ppv channels are merely placeholders until new hd is launched.
Not anticipated by whom? There's more than the number of HD PPV channels that DIRECTV recently launched that are being offered by other carriers and more than a handful of them are getting "where is it?" complaints.however, and i say this in directv's defense, when dtv11 was launched this spring, no new hd was anticipated before september so we are probably about a month early with new hd.
I'm sure that those who want Travel HD or WGN wouldn't consider tying up their bandwidth for a "channel" that offers programming for eight hours or less per week acceptable.Think maybe DirecTV kept the additions simple to keep the resolutions looking awesome on DirecTV MPEG4 Sunday Ticket?.Hmmm? Could be?.
So, any word on when WGN HD will be available across the country ?
It would be nice to see the Cub's in HD when they are approaching the th4e playoffs for the first time in a long time....

Tom,
I highly doubt that this IS the Fall launch they were talking about, I think this was done as a prelude of things to come.

and as someone else here pointed out. those contracts might very well be signed but might not start until mid-september. you can't start airing a channel until the begin date in the contract.
