I know who im scolding in this weeks podcast.. Directv, its not looking good. Get rid of the dam HD PPV's we had enough as it was and add some real freakin HD like fox news, Travel, Outdoor 2, Ect.

Really? What Baseball games on Fox Sports can I watch tonight? I'm in the San Diego DMA and I don't have the MLB package. Please advise me on which games are available. I'd like to watch.

I'll save you the time. The answer is none.
I can't watch a movie on HBO tonight. Advise me on which movies I can watch on HBO. I'd like to watch.

Funny, I pay for Premier and I can watch the HBO programming I pay for, yet I can't watch a game on Fox RSN that I also pay for. I find it odd that some customers are able to see these games that I cannot. In fact, even if I had the MLB package, I could not watch a Padre game regardless the network unless its the nationally televised game on Fox or ESPN due to D's non-carriage of the Padres feed - in other words, all Padre games are blacked out on D. You see the point? You can order HBO and see it. I pay for sports and cannot see them.

Thats because you need the appropriate subscriptions. Dk has said this before.

No. Like HBO if you want to view the extra programming you must pay. Pay for EI and you can watch these out of market baseball game on these exact out of market RSNs (you don't even have to go to the EI channels).

(Remember your original post said, "...we get a bunch of sports channels with programming no-one [emphasis mine] can watch because of blackouts.")

No-one? Funny, I and many other can view games in these "blackouts" by paying for it, just like HBO. That is a far cry from no-one....

Seems like a waste of space to make 18, yes EIGHTEEN, pay per view channels, when there are channels like Hbo that could be added. Who watches all those pay per view channels anyway. At least DISH has the right idea and puts the pay per views on your hard drive and you can access them when you want. That way you can use your valuable satellite bandwith for more REAL hd channels.

And your D* set up is exactly what?

Aren't you an E* subscriber?

If you are, you don't really have a dog in this fight!

My Set Up: 1 HR20, 2 H20, 1 Phillips DSR-708, 1 SD receiver, AT-9 Slimline Dish

Clearly, you're not getting the point. In fact, you're such a D apologist, there's no sense in arguing with you.

I'll make it simple. Just as D runs Sunday Ticket/NBA/MLS on dedicated/overplapping PPV feeds, the could do the same with EI rather than run a bunch of RSNs 24/7. Heck, they've been doing it. Either that or make them simply dedicated premium sports package feeds. Its far better to do this than fill up channels just to claim 130 channels. It's complete jibberish. And a freakin joke.

And when you pay for HBO, they black out your HBO programing genius.

yep he's just an E sub

Directv is waiting for a better feed from HBO (MPEG4) before they add them. They will come. They could rush them out now and have everyone complain about the picture.

no. he's explaining to you what you need to have to see these games on the rsn's.

but i do agree with you on one thing. you should not have to pay $15? a month for these rsn's when you still need to add a sports subscription to be able to see all these games. that to me is nonsense. the sports pack should be $5.99 or somewhere in that range. for sure it's not worth $15. but again like Dk mentioned you can get all of these games on the rsn's as long as you pay for it.

The $12 Sports Pack also includes NBATV; Outdoor Ch; ESPNU; FSC; GOLTV; etc.

Not just the RSN's.

Because your point is wrong. And we don't have to make this personal. I did not call you a whiner so there is no need to call me an apologist by pointing out facts that you have failed to refute.

1. D did exactly (with the exception of the 3 RNS due to technical issues) what they said they were going to do and they did it a month ahead of schedule. Is this true or false?

2. You said no-one can watch the games on these RSNs due to blackouts. Is it true or false that no-one can watch?

And I have no problem with additions of that nature. They actually have watchable sports programing, not duplicative programming of programs and blacked out games.

If they have a capacity problem for sports package premiums, they should simply dedicate some feeds to them they can share across the packages rather than put up a bunch of garbage feeds just to claim 130 channels. They can make money of them with PPV or whatever, I don't care. It would be far better to claim 100 channels and actually have 100 channels, then it would be to claim 130 and not have them. If you're not a sports fan, like I am, then today E* is the leader in HD, not D* simply my the mass of channels they offer. Heck, U-Verse here offers a better variety of HD than does D*.

BIG DEAL? All rsn and ppv. All hype
All? So Planet Green, ABC Familiy, Showtime Extreme, and Showtime Showcase are RSNs or PPV?

Hype? Their PR said this is exactly what they are going to be doing. The only ones to have hyped this up are those that were expecting more despite what the release stated or those that love to complain just of the sake of complaining?

No, your original point which I refuted was that no-one can watch [pro sports] due to blackouts. You then made a different point when I challenged you on your first point (which was wrong).

!sadroll

While you split hares to prop up D*, the rest of the planet gets my point.

Why should they only dedicate some of the feed to the RSNs? The sports packages are national and thus all of the feeds from the RSNs need to be Conus. Also, if there is a bandwidth issue, they still have plenty, so dedicating feed for other things is not an issue.
