DirecTV reintroducing R16 for MPEG2 SD market

I heard about this over at the DBS forum.

Directv is going to manufacture less of the R22's and they will only be providing people with the R22's if they need it for MPEG4 Locals. Only the R16 is going to be distributed to people that only need MEPG2.

I am disappointed with Directv to hear about this. Some people might want a more of a top of the line SD DVR. This means that new customers getting a SD DVR won't get the cool features like On Demand, Media Share and other great features. I feel that this is a bad move by Directv. If they had record earning this quarter, then why do they need to cut back & potentially ruin that.

i agree. i'm very disappointed to hear this too and it tells me what direction D is heading with a decision like this and i don't like it. i hope i'm just over reacting and it means nothing.

OH BOY! Do I feel bad for all you SD DVR users.!
Don't accept it ! Just upgrade to the HR. Please.
