I just got directv
I can record two programs at the same time on this dvr

What do I need to buy to copy the programs I record on the dvr they installed to cd or dvd?
Whats the good place to buy on the internet?

I cannot copy the recorded programs directly from DVR to DVD recorder, am i correct? I need to play the DVR recorded programs on TV and use DVD recorder to make a copy, is this correct?

So, DVD recprder must be connected to the TV not DVR, am I correct about all of this?

No, you can connect your DVR to a DVD recorder directly, just like a VCR. It is not an all-digital solution though. The playback would be over S-Video or Composite.

Can the USB port on the DVR somehow be used to connect to my laptop and burn a copy that way?

The usb port on the DVR is not active, also you will lose your HD when transfering to the DVR recorder.
