DIRECTV Opens National Operations Hub in DenverExpansion Creates up to 1,000 New Jobs, Includes Technical Call Center Operations, Field Services, Supply Chain Management, Independent Retailer Support
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2007--Underscoring its commitment to be the industry's "gold standard" in customer service and sales support, DIRECTV, Inc., the nation's leading satellite television service provider, opened the doors today to its new Denver Operations hub.
The new facility will create up to 1,000 new jobs and will be the nerve center for DIRECTV's sales and service support operations for its more than 16 million customers nationwide. The facility was opened with a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by DIRECTV executives and state and local officials.
The 256,000-square-foot operations center expands existing DIRECTV operations in the Denver area and will include offices for Call Center Management, Field Services, Supply Chain Management, Independent Retail Services Support, and a variety of other support functions, including an expanded IT/Data Center operation.
The new facility also houses a commercial support call center and a technical customer call center that will provide support for DIRECTV's new advanced products and services, including DVRs, HD DVRs, HD and interactive services.
"Our newly expanded operations center will be at the core of everything we do in support of our customers nationwide, from the provision of equipment to installation, follow-up service and customer contact," said John Suranyi, president, DIRECTV Sales and Service. "As our customer base continues to grow, and our advanced products and services play an increasingly significant role in our customers' viewing experience, it is critical that we have our command and control operations under one roof to closely coordinate our sales and service support nationwide."
"The functions at this new facility are highly complex from a technical and logistics point of view, requiring a technology-smart and capable workforce, which made Denver an ideal location for the expansion of our operations," Suranyi added. "We've been a part of the Denver area business community since we uplinked our first signals 13 years ago and we're excited about expanding our presence here and creating more jobs."
The operations center is located in a six-story building, formerly occupied by ICG, in the Inverness Business Park in southeast Denver. A major overhaul of the building began in mid-2006 and was completed in late spring.
In addition to the national operations center in Denver, DIRECTV operates a broadcast uplink facility in Castle Rock with 110 employees, and a local broadcast collection facility, which opened last year near the site of the new operations facility. Other DIRECTV owned and operated facilities outside its El Segundo, Calif. headquarters includes call centers in Boise, Idaho, Huntsville, Ala., Tulsa, Okla., and Missoula, Mont.
