DIRECTV NOW LAUNCH

I'm looking for info on this as well. Given where I live I will likely be stuck with Philly locals which are as relevant to me as locals for Juneau, Alaska. So hoping I'll be able to "move" to NYC and get those locals as I have been doing with DirecTV and then Dish the last 14 years. Guessing locals with DirecTV Now will be IP based so will likely have to use a VPN that allows me to change my location. Anyone have any insight on this?

I can't answer I have zero networks available with NOW. So for me it doesn't work very well.
With PSVue I at least have all the cloud stuff with exception of CBS which is available as standalone through CBS.

It will show the the locals for the area your credit card is billed to no matter where you are in the US.

So here in Hartford we only have NBC on NOW, so anywhere I go... that will be my local since that is the local for my billing address.

Thanks Scott. May have to sign up for one of those credit card offers I get at work which is in NYC. Will see how it goes after first month.

I'm. It sure if location services on your device will have any impact. This NFL debacle today is troubling. Not one response from Customer Support on the forums.

Internet streaming will never I repeat never replace traditional cable, OTA and satellite options. As I said internet streaming drops out everytime there is any kind of demand however cable, OTA and satellite will always be rock solid yes even rain fad goes away quicker is not as bad as staring at a black screen and error message for hours or a frozen or blurry picture.
I agree, and the fast forwarding and rewinding with streaming is a TORTUROUS nightmare.

If DirecTV goes IPTV only then it would be suicide for them. I just imagine so many people canceling when they blackout not just sports but regular programs because they are not allowed to stream it. Also the constant buffering and error messages.

So far so good for me. I signed up the morning of Nov. 30th and cancelled Dish on December 6th. Got the three month $35/month ATV promo. I have had Sling and I felt that PQ wasn't very good. DNOW IMO has good PQ.
I enjoy the ATV app. It does take some time to learn.I do miss DVR capability but as others have stated, it 'll come with time. I feel that they, ATT, will need to roll one out to keep up. Will just be curious as to how much it'll $$.
Channel selection is awesome. But, everyone has their favorites.
For now, I don't see myself leaving DNOW.

I do think the blackout issue will be resolved but not sure how soon. There have been no responses by Directv on this so I think yesterday was a monumental screw up. The freezing issues will be addressed. There is no hiding this as it is a complete show stopper for many.

All of those negatives aside. PQ is now better than satellite for me, at least on some channels. I think there has been a good amount of tweaking done. I'm cautiously optimistic as a lot can improve over the next three months.

I have caught myself forgetting that I don't have sat TV. The PQ was that good. Centurylink 20Meg DSL service in Nebraska. I wish that I had locals, but OTA gets me all of them anyway. Just have to switch sources on TV.

That depends on the service and device you are using. FF/RW functions on PS Vue on a PS4 is comparable to a cable company DVR hardware I've had in the past. There's only roughly a half-second delay most of the time, and every once in a while 1-2 second lag response in resuming the program. This is something that's been greatly improved with app updates since I signed up in June.

While it may never be instantaneous like watching a recording off a hard drive, it's by no means a nightmare and well worth the $60/mo. I save on my TV services vs. cable or satellite. With that said, the skip back function when watching Netflix on PS4 is already instantaneous. The technology will catch up as more people move over to OTT services that offer a cloud-based DVR.

I don't think the blackout issue will go away, at least not without a change in the pricing, especially for those that want the RSN games. I can't see AT&T picking up the tab for the increased costs of streaming sports without passing it on to the subscriber, certainly not on a $35 channel bundle.

The NFL Blackout issue will not go away one of the cell phone companies has exclusive rights to the NFL over mobile. (I think its Verizon)

Yes, that along with the individual RSN viewing rights would seem to indicate without spending more money(AT&T and then, of course, the subscriber) live sports will not be available from those channels on the DirecTV Now service.

To be honest, when I saw the RSNs listed, in their own little section even as if to highlight the fact that they were available on the service, I was rather surprised given the cost of the channel package but now it seems they were only there to pump up the overall channel count.

Scott. This is not a cell phone issue. NFL is supposed to be viewable on Apple TV and Computers. Only mobile devices are supposed to be locked out.

From the Directv Now Help Page

Can I watch NFL games carried by Fox local channels?

Yes. They can be streamed on connected TV devices, computers and tablets. (Smartphones excluded.)

All Fox games via TV devices and computers were blacked out nationwide. They were available last week.

I'm still not seeing the SF bay are RSNs, CSNBA and CSNCA. They were there at launch but have since disappeared and even deleting and re-downloading/installing the app doesn't bring them back. I have the Go Big package and you only need the one below it, Just Right, to get the RSNs.

So somebody somewhere has got their info wrong. :)

First time I started Now all day and it won't open...LOL I was going to see if MNF was working.

Seems to be a glitch loading app with FireTv had the same occurrence this morning taking several tries to load.
Now app with FireTv finally loaded last night about 10 minutes into game. What I did notice during MNF was occasional choppiness I didn't like. Switched over to PSVue and didn't experience any issues. I would give a grade of C with first try of watching football.
