The HR34 HDGUI software is still in-house. They're up to 0x0535. We got the H/HR2x HDGUI at 0x0552.

If you had to guess, how long would you say before the HD guide is released for the HR34? I love it on my H25s, what a huge improvement!

Please let me know if I have this correct:

I currently have 4 cables coming out of a 5-LNB dish, going into my den. I have a powered 8-output multiswitch, and I have 3 HR2x DVRs hooked to 6 of those 8 outputs.

If I want to add an HR34, I could do that online at www.directv.com, and DirecTV will automatically schedule an upgrade to a SWiM-16 hookup, since the HR34 can't even connect to the older multiswitch technology...

Is that right?

They may rewire the whole house including a swm lnb, or add the swm16 switch. I'd guess the swm16 would be faster and cheaper for them.

Ok. For what it's worth, all DVRs are in the den, stacked up in my entertainment center.

Maybe, but I for one wouldn't trust maybe. I would tell 'em of your need of a SWiM-16 once you have the RID number of the HR34, if you buy it from a third party.

Hey guys, I was thinking of trying this puppy out and coming back to Directv. When ordering online, it is an option at $99, which is fine by me. Do they have anything against installing it in a house getting only one HDDVR? I just like the fact it can record 5 programs at once.

My current setup is one HR-34 and two H25s (HD receivers). I had no problem at all getting this ordered/installed. You'll just want to make sure you have HMC HD DVR on your order confirmation. You'll then be guaranteed to get this receiver.

Well if you got more televisions, up to three H25 seems to be FREE, except for their monthly charge.

I broke down and called. Waiting on a call back for a HMC install, got it for $99.

At first they told me I could only get it with a Samsung tv :)

Looks I'm coming back to directv.

Hard to believe this bogus Samsung television requirement is still going on after a week.

When I spoke to Steve from the President's office on Friday I told him about it. Hopefully the issue will be addressed soon.

Yeah, I thought it was amusing, but I could tell the guy was a trainee, so I just worked with em and kinda hinted around why it did not matter in my situation.

Just got my email confirmation, have to wait for the schedule call now

So the assurance of extra boxes is out the door now. All you have to do is assure them you have a compatible TV?

Just got the call to schedule my appointment, and then the girl could not do it. Got a message that said something like tech must be trained for this install. Im thinking since they grilled me about the Samsung set, there is something RVU related screwing this up. Had to call Directv.

Lady at Directv said nothing was wrong with the order, so she sent a message with my phone number to the local operation, they are supposed to call me in 45 minutes. I tried telling here I had not interest in RVU/Samsung, just a one tv install, but she did not seem to think it mattered. Waiting on call back now. I feel its a matter of the RVU issue and xtra training required, while noone is possibly trained in my area.

My Samsung is a 6900 model...does that work for HR34?

Not yet, AFAIK. Only the 6000, 6400, and 6420 models are rvu compliant. Supposedly all Samsung smart tvs will get a firmware upgrade.
