Forgive me if this has already been posted. I just got the DirecTv HD DVR with Tivo and I notice you have to change the format or resoulation on the different channels. It dosn't do it by itself like the regular ones do. I like the native ones where it changes the format by itself from HD to SD. Well anyways how do I know what channel is brodcasting in what format? I want to be ready for when the new fall tv season starts. What if one network is broadcasting in 720ip and the other in 1080i? I don't like changing the format myself. I'm thinking about packing it up and taking it back. Can anyone offer any help before it goes back? Thanks!

ABC, ESPN and Fox are 720p everything else is pretty much 1080i. Although if you are getting HD locals OTA sometimes an affilate will be different. But for the most part NBC and CBS are 1080i and ABC and FOX are 720p. Everything not HD on D* is 480i

I am a little confused. On the regular HD box if you hit the info button it tells you what format it is in. So w/ the Tivo u have to change it each time u change the channel? So if you set it to record a show do u have to program which setting to record it in???

The HD TiVo does not support "native" resolution. I think the 1080i setting is okay, but I am not sure as my TV ONLY displays 1080i ... even for cable and OTA ;)
