Ok just got off the phone with directv and it's gonna be interesting to see what changes are made once the Viacom channels come back cause I was talkin to someone in retention department and he claims that there will be some changes made. He just dont know what they will be. I just got a bad feeling that we are gonna be the ones who pays for it. I told him I noticed the website how it has changed and all the Viacom channels are listed in choice extra or above. I wonder once it's resolved will they have to put the channels back in customers packages they had them in before or if this change is made will it effect all of us.

I recently won a YouTube dispute with Viacom.

They put claim on the Rocko's Modern Life clip that is in that video, I told them it's not the main focus of the video the video is a demo of DLNA and the content was used under "fair use". Well I won.

I can only imagine how YouTube still have its former glory without the interference of Viacommies and DMCA laws, plus UMG, Sony, EMI, and WMG getting upset about music playing on their videos.

I hope this does not wind up sucking for me, I'm on Choice XTRA so I am missing "Cloo", I never saw a reason to upgrade to only get Cloo and a few more music channels.

Actually I think I'm on a grandfathered package because I have Boomerang and I know I'm not on Ultimate.

But if the Viacom channels were on the select classic package which I have would I be grandfathered in to receive these channels once they come back.

Nope. Anytime a channel is moved to a different package, only those with that particular package(s) will get that channel. All packages are subject to change.

Can't believe it's almost 5 days since I became Degrassi-LESS thanks to Viacom. I was look at some Tweets. I didn't like it about they say Mayans were right on Viacom Blackout (you know the 12/21/2012 scare they claimed the Mayans predicted the end times, NEWSFLASH! The Mayans never predicted it) and I felt like it's a dire warning.
Almost Day 5 of the Viacom Blackout :(

When will the feud end?? We don't know but the negotiations are in good progress according to DIRECTV Viacom Dispute - Viacom Wants YOU to Pay 30% MORE! and Philippe Dauman want to be greedy and don't care about viewers since the economy isn't doing very good. I felt like so-called dire predictions from Jack Van Impe came true. :(

Directv is probably deciding to wait to budge on the deal until their tv and radio ads run unless they get pretty close to what they been asking for otherwise they will be out the money for the ads they plan on running.

same here.

I'm on a grandfathered package too. Cloo (ex-Sleuth) went to a 721 screen months ago. Apparently it got moved to a higher package.

Cloo went to Ultimate....everyone on the old Xtra (Chocie Xtra Classic) lost it

There is a handful of stations that are not in the "new" Xtra but we can keep it on a Grandfathered plan
Golf & CBS Sports Net are 2 of them

edit: found the post with it

If you ever thought of upgrading to Choice Xtra, and like any of the channels below, do it before 2/9 and be grandfathered under Choice Xtra Classic. These channels will require Choice Ultimate with the changes:

Boomerang
CBS Sports Channel
Chiller
Golf Channel
NHL Network
Sprout
Style
Tennis Channel

Also remember as discussed about a month ago, Cloo (formerly Sleuth) is moving to Choice Ultimate and will not be grandfathered.

i'm glad they grandfathered all of these(otherwise i would have call and give them hell), but why wasn't cloo grandfathered as well? i'm still bitter about losing espn classic

Last night I had a dream that Viacom reach an agreement with DirecTV and the channels restored. Unfortunately in reality, the drama is still going on and growing. We don't want another repeat of two years ago when rival Cablevision subscribers in NYC almost missed the Oscars on ABC and missing the first 2 World Series games on FOX because of bullying tactics. If DirecTV doesn't resolved this beef after tomorrow, lots of Degrassi fans will raise cane at Viacom for missing the Season 12 debut. We don't want dire warnings from Viacom. I'm still with DirecTV all the way :)

ESPN Classic's thing was ESPN requesting that Classic and ESPNU change packages. This was across all providers. ESPNU use to be in sports pack.
So ESPNU is in "basic" package and Classic is in a sports pack.
