Dish has alot of tuners with Hopper 3. Could the PQ be the issue with Dish, with having so many tuners?

Also, Dish has a 4K Joey, but very few stations with 4K. Does Directv have any or more stations 4K Capability?
Might be off topic but for 4K the issue is not provider based its content owners issue. Outside of sports no one is broadcasting 4K. I cannot name one 4K network beyond NASA . And as far as sports in 4K DirecTV is the leader . As they have 4K agreements with multiple content providers . Dish only broadcasts 4K from Fox Sports . DIRECTV has "4K" from Sports Net LA, Altitude, NBC SN Chicago, NBC SN, ESPN, Fox Sports, and more also some random events like bull riding , the masters,, and red bull events..

It might be a reason for me to switch from Dish to Directv. How many tuners are on the DVRs with Dierectv compared to the Hopper3?
Yea last month there were so may 4K sports events i had to use 3 pages lol

It may depend on the equipment.
I have Genie 2 (headless server) so. 7 tuners max , 2 4K tuners max .
Works for me as I only have 5 STBs

I have 4 HD TVs. 2 are 4K, one is HDR, the other 4K but not HDR supported. Both are Vizios. I really never considered going back to Directv, but with more 4K Channels it may be the reason. Dish only has one 4K with Sports, and some On Demand Movies. But is it really a reason to switch to Directv.
I'm a sports fan so for me YES. Having the RSNs, 4K (in all sports-NBA NHL MLB NFL ) NFL ST (although current contract expires end 2022 season i think ) so that would be 2 years/seasons .
But everyone is different and every company has their pros and cons .. I wish D* had that custom mix channel that E*/dish has vs the pre set mix channels (news, kids , sports, MLB, ) also I think E*/dish allows all channels to be watched via the app . D* allows most not not all .

Not having the RSNs is one thing, but if you are switching just for 4K, it is not worth it, first the majority of 4K content from Broadcasters is upconverted from 1080P, from here-
- But there's a catch — it's not true 4K, it's upscaled 4K.
- Upscaling is when a lower-resolution video is artificially enhanced to a higher resolution. It often produces good results, but it's typically still not as good as a video that's natively produced at a higher resolution.
Incorrect , although limited , ESPN 4K is only on select linear providers (not streaming )
Also I'm not aware of 4K via RSNs on apps
Only Fox Sports ... possibly NBC SN allow 4K streaming
The masters and most other 4K events are linear only.
Also ESPN is 4K (no upconvert ) most are amazed by the PQ.

There's an NBA game tonight in 4K
If u live in Denver DMA please let me know if Altitude sports allows "streaming " in 4K
There is an EPL Soccer match tomorrow 11am EDT (Manchester City v Everton ) I will test to see if there is "streaming " in 4K via DirecTV and fios credentials
But to mu knowledge only Fox Sports events allow streaming and currently they are not doing many 4K events only Nascar (there is a 4K nascar race tomorrow)
Hopefully more 4K events from Fox soon as covid restrictions go away .
French open (tennis ) will be in 4K as well starting 31 May.
There is a "4K " event almost every night . Some require the out of market package (MLB EI, NBA LP. NHL CI) but it depends on where user lives etc ..

Reminds me when I was beta testing fios IPTV and folks were upset the IPTV STBs didn't have an LED clock like the previous models.

Lol I haven't seen a red record light on an STB in a while .Box.
Red ment an issue on the beta test fios IPTV STBs and on the D* genie 2 system there is a green light and blue logo meaning on/working. I think a yellow when there is an issue . On the server there is 2 solid green lights when working.
I could be wrong but I think cox/xfinity client boxes don't have a red light...
I do remember years ago the R15 or HR20 had a red record light lol
From LED clocks on cable /telco STBs to no red record lights... my overall summary is evey STB and company is different and things change .
