The 23's have never needed BBC's, while all others have ALWAYS needed them.
The HR24 (if not using SWiM) DOES need the BBC's .

In fairness, Iceturkee mentioned the 23, Jerry just pointed out that he didn't need them.
He has a 24.
Now I'm getting confused reading between them .....

she's responding to my comment about the hr24. i never said anything about the HR23 so her telling me it doesn't need bbc's because HER HR23 doesn't need them is incorrect info since i was talking about the HR24

so again to eliminate the confusion some are causing for no good reason:
HR24 does need BBC's if you don't have a SWIM installation.

Confusion abounds ... isn't this a thread about new HD channels being added by DIRECTV? Kind of hard to tell ...
This is what happens when the info is slow getting here.
Meaning, theres not that much new info at the moment and people take the topic in a different area till more info comes around.
And nobody died or suffered even a hangnail.
If necessary, any concerned citizens should wash their hands thoroughly with an antibacterial soap and very warm water for at least 30 seconds. If they still feel contaminated, rinse and repeat
Sorry if I'm peeing on the 'off topic' gods. On many discussion groups I frequent, most of the really useful and interesting information comes from highly off topic posts and extreme topic drift. It may not be neat and clean and fit into a nice handsome box, but its there if you want it.
Some of the least helpful boards are the ones that delete posts willy nilly and close threads when the moderator decides that the discussion has run its course. I think we all know one in particular that I'm thinking of...

Who asked for posts to be deleted? Why is that assumed to be the only option?
No, nobody died, but please allow me to add my own view ...
vBulletin includes great features that allow moderators to select multiple posts en masse and split them from the current thread to move them to a new thread. The moderators can then rename the new thread to something more appropriate to the posts that were moved, for example, "BBCs and HR24". Finally, the moderators can add a post in the original thread with a link to the new thread so it's clear the actions that were taken.
No animals or children are harmed in this endeavor, but newbies visiting SG who are looking for recent info on BBCs can find a dedicated thread for them at the top of the forum, whereas they may have never bothered to open a thread called "DIRECTV Announces New HD". Everyone benefits, and the only one put out is the moderator who splits the thread, but even that is minimal due to the vBulletin feature.
Does thread-splitting need to be done in ALL cases of off-topicness? No, not at all. However, in this thread there are pages of it, so this thread is a perfect candidate for it.
