Directv and HBO Mpeg4 8 mbps minimum

Since HBO is going to require this, will D* have to do 4 HBO's per TP and lose a little space, or will they get by with the 7.6?

Wish more channels would mandate 7-8.

I haven't seen where they are mandating this. They just have announced that they are going to all MPEG4 @ 8mpbs on each channel. No more MPEG2 feeds.

Several sites and blogs have claimed it as a mandate. I remember last year reading that they would require a min bitrate, everyone was happy about that.

43/7=6.14. E*'s are VARIABLE though, so you cant just go off that number.

Interesting thought. They don't have to have the HBOs on one transponder, so even if HBO requires 8mb, for some reason, D* could put one HBO on each tranponder and just shorten the other channels 0.1 or so.
