I thought our children will be blind in the future from texting, 3D technology at home will solidly a blind America in 50 years!
My wife was complaining of headaches while watching Avatar in IMAX. I wonder how they will address this for home viewing. I have visions of everyone going crosseyed like those glasses holder wearers from Steve Martin's The Jerk.....
Dear Directv, I just bought three HD tv's so I could enjoy all of the HD programming that you offer. Could you possibly get us maxed out on regular HD first (like all the national HD channels we have yet to receive) before moving on to the 3D? I really like the TV's I have now...
Until they find a way to do it without the glasses, this is not going to take off. Avatar in 3D was cool, but I don't want to do that all the time. I'll be curious to see what they come up with to eliminate the glasses.

CNBC this afternoon said that Samsung was going to demo a 3D TV that didn't need glasses.
I know. I just bought a Samsung 1080P LED 240 hz. Its incredible and the picture is fantastic. And now its obsolete? For 1 or 2 channels? I am a cutting edge person but no f***** way is this coming to my house anytime soon. I have no interest. I am saving up for a small boat over crap like this. I think this is wrong time, wrong economy, wrong assumption of end users, etc. Big mistake.

Do you all recall when HDTV first hit the tube at a trade show? Yes it was HDTV analog on the CRT tube back in 1986. However it didn't become a reality for consumers until late 90's over 12 years later and then it was early adopter for another 5-6 years. So stop with all your pissing and moaning because the industry is experimenting with 3D. By the time it does become a commercially accepted product, you may just be buying a Holodeck a la Star Trek in 2025. None of these 3D technologies we will see demoed at CES will be ubiquitous next month. In fact, this is the 3rd year 3D has been displayed by several manufacturers and until this year none of you even cared. Why are you so paranoid about 3D this year? Because the press is talking about it for a change? Or, because there doesn't seem to be anything else of interest?
Oh and lastly, just because there are new technologies in development and maybe one channelk showing a movie on PPV, doesn't make your new K-mart special HDTV obsolete.

I kinda thought that Don after I posted this. But maybe its just me getting older and looking back and the thousands I have spent over the years on equipment and experiments. I just got HD pervasive in the house, finally got the TV I wanted, my wife now has accepted HD and here we go again. I think its cool someone keeps pushing the envelop but I think I am just becoming an old timer. I like my HD, my DVR, my BluRay, and now my programming in HD (Daily Show, Football, Sitcoms) that I am really really content. Where's my rocking chair. 
What's nice about getting older, too, is that my eyes aren't what they used to be, and my hearing isn't as acute, so I can make due with my 120 Hz 1080p HD set and 110 W/channel AV receiver instead of a QuadHD 480 Hz plasma with 500 W/channel 9.1 AV receiver with HDMI 2.0 switching.

Yeah 3D not that great! I think right now a waste of time and all TV providers should be working on getting all the networks to get a HD version of their channel up and going. That way we can be back to one format say bye bye to SD all HD. Just think of all the space they could save if all they had to do is just carry HD channels and no more SD.

Yeah well I plan on upgrading the main TV this year and Sony got their new LED sets coming out this year and their all 3D from what I can tell. So it will look like thats what I will get but it will be interesting to see how all this 3D stuff works out.
Well, we all are getting older. I have to make an appointment with the Social security office in the next few months. But here's the thing. It's a hobby with us, not a utility in the home. I know this to be a fact because if it wasn't a hobby you wouldn't be reading this forum and posting here. There will always be places to drop your extra cash when it's a hobby.
Personally, I find 3D fascinating and get an enjoyment of viewing it ONCE IN AWHILE. It will never be ubiquitous like a fundamental technology as in "color TV" Heck, even HDTV is not everywhere, right?
One word of caution about any of this 3D technology. It IS future technology, so don't be so eager to buy into it until the standards get settled. Seems to me I recall something like this with HDTV DVD's Now that is dead and all we have is Blu Ray. See? I still have a HD DVD player in the XBOX 360 and my computer has a dual player. But who would go out and spend the big bucks for a new player for HD DVD? So be careful about getting too much money in a 3D technology. Not until they settle in on one format. Besides, I said this will not be a fundamental technology. I think of 3D like I do D-Box.
