Directv 14 Ka Satellite - 99W

Directv has filed for launch authority for their new Directv 14 Ka satellite to be located at the nominal 99W slot.

Launch is expected in late 2013 or early 2014.

Directv 14 will provide HD Conus Plus service to 50 states and Puerto Rico along with 46 spot beams providing service to as many as 69 DMA's and Puerto Rico.

So this satellite will let D* add an additional 96 HD channels. If D* wants to be the HD leader again, they better not use any of that bandwidth for more PPV.

I would imagine you'll see alot of it allotted to PPV's as a placemarker till the channels they are adding are ready.
