DirectTv Question

I am going to buy a directv satellite on e-bay and I already have a receiver. If I took the dishnetwork dish off my house and put the directv on would this cause any problem. I have the coax cable already installed.

You are buying a DirecTV dish correct? The same RG6 type cable is used between the dish an receiver, so you will have no problems. Do you have any switches in your line?

I'm new to this what are switches?

It will be box like object where cable runs come in from the dish and then runs out to each room with receiver. It doesn't have to be exactly like this one but you get the idea.
