Sup all,
I got a few questions to ask about setting up direct TV at my vacation house. At my main house I have HD DVR and two regular receivers. What I am trying to do is take one of the regular receivers to my vacation home and hook it up. Here are some of the details that I am working with. At my vacation house it has a TERK S-26 Dish that was preinstalled when I bought the place. So just for grins I went to the vacation house and tried to hook the receiver (which is a D11-500), but all that happens is that it keeps searching for a signal. When I go into the menu its 0 across the board on all of the satellites. There are 3 wires coming from the dish into the attic, do all these need to be hooked up with some type of adapter/switch or is that just for 3 different receivers? DO I have to change the zip code in the menu or do anything special? Any ideas?

Thanks.

It probably needs to be told the correct dish for what you have at the vacation home.

Do a "Reset Satellite Set Up" and when you get into the menus, there will be a spot to tell it what dish you have.
If your only using one recvr, you'll only need one line from the dish, but it might be a good idea to go up there and check to see that they are connected in the attic.

I tried this I believe and I selected the 18” x 20” w/ 3LNB and still says searching for signal. There are 3 wires coming from the dish and they go into the attic where I have 1 of them hooked to a grounding block then going to my D-11 receiver. Still no luck with getting a signal.

Well, seeing you know your D-11 is good as it was working at the other location, I would guess that your dish needs to be tweaked.

I checked the dish adjustments and they seemed fine. For some reason I keep getting the 771 code searching for satellites. I know the cable is good because I checked it with my indoor digital air satellite. Also when I run the system test everything is OK beside the LNB output and the phone jack. Could my dish be bad? How would I check that? Any other advice?
Thanks

Yes it has to be aimed at the 101 to do anything. It is obvious that it is not. Why not just get an 18x20 triple sat dish and set it up. They are cheap.
