Hello all Im a newbie here to the forum and just switced from E* to D* and they are coming tomorrow to install 2 HR 24 HD DVR's and what Im concerned with is my C Band installer said they have to have two coax cables going to each receiver if its a DVR, unlike E* where its one coax going in to a splitter which then two coax go into the E* receiver.

With my current setup I have one coax that goes to the outside that runs to all the rooms in the house except the media room. Then for the Media room when I had my C Band dish installed and E*, two coax's were run for the E* install, and the ribbon cable for the C Band, so I have one coax free which I just installed a motorized KU setup so the KU will use that extra coax so I need the D* wires to only be one coax going into the house, is this possible?

Thanks for your suggestions

DirecTV has a single cable solution also. Whether they will use any of your existing cable may vary. Make sure you are home during the install and discuss your options beforehand.

All new HD systems with HD/DVR go in as SWM across the board.
Which means it will be only 1 wire to DVR's.

More then likely there will be no issues using all the same cables as long as they are dedicated to the direct tv receiver.
We techs do not like running extra cables if we can avoid it as we don't get paid any extra and many of us pay for materials.

There's no guarantee you'll get HR24s unless you have them sitting in your house when the installer gets there.

You will be ok!

E uses good cable and with the Single Wire Multiswitch (SWM) the competition cable will work fine. The only thing to look for is the E system power inserter (PI) has to be found and bypassed. Your tech should know this and just move on. He should be able to identify the coax run on your ribbon cable and use it also.

Report how it goes........no problem seen so far!

Are you sure that doesn't vary by region? I've heard of new installs without SWiM pretty recently. I know with MRV it's required, but not everyone is getting that upgrade.

The new HD installs that were not getting SWM did not have DVR's on them.
Starting this month, officially all HD installs will be SWM as Direct wants them to be ready for MRV without any change out.
