I am thinking of switching from D*tv to Dnetwork.....wondering if anyone else has, and if your happy? Been with D* for about 5 or 6 years, and they keep jacking up the price. Wonder about the quality of their recievers (522) and their service. Seems I can get almost as many channels for about $10 a month less. Thanks....

I have been with Dish 7 or 8 years, they have introduced some buggy receivers, but overall I have not found anything better. My neighbor just switched from Direct to Dish and he said it was a good thing to do after he has had Dish now about 5 months.

Cable/Dish/Direct, all have their strong points, and bad points, whatever works for you, just go for it.

As far as the 522, can't help ya, we have a 510, a 311 and 4 811's, the 510 and 311's are very stable, the 811's are becoming so after a year of software updates.

Some friends of mine switched from Direct TV to Dish probably about a year ago and seem to like Dish. I have Dish and have no problems with it. I don't really like the Direct TV interface I have seen on most of there receivers I have used but I'm sure I would get used to it.

I switched from Directv to Dish and it was the WORST mistake I have ever made! I wanted to go HD and Dish would give me a free 811 and 522. I tried it. I hated it. Buggiest equipment I have ever used. Always an error, always having to download the guide. I HATE it. My wife HATES it. We are going to pay out the year agreement and switch back to the good life with Directv.

The grass is not greener on the other side. There is a reason Directv cost more. Because it is worth more.

Hope that helps,
Randy

Here's another opinion for you. I switched from Directv to Dish several months ago. I switched after having a problem with my Directv receiver booting every 8 minutes due to softwear problems. After four days of calling Directv with no fix or offer to send me a different receiver the switch to Dish was made. I have not had any problems with Dish so far and in fact the picture on my locals is much better.

Yes I have several friends in a small town I used to live near and most of the originally had Direct TV but it seems like most of them have recently switched to Dish Network and seem to like it better. Where I live now most of them also have Dishnetwork but most of them have had it since I have known them only a few have switched. I think both are great and either would fit your needs I know a lot of people that are happier with Dish Network but then a lot of people on here seem to prefer Direct TV so really I think you should go with whichever one meets your needs.

Well we are switching back to Dish March 7th. We had Dish Network and cancelled and got DirecTV which was a big mistake. We hate DirecTV and I hate the Tivo with a passon. The slow guide, b&w bug and recording off of blank channels. We were happy with Dish but the sw64 switch made us switch but now we are getting all new equipment all 510's for 4 receivers and Dish pro setups.

I switch to E* because I wanted to get HD without any money out of my pocket. I got a great deal from a Friend with E*. I had D* for about 4 years and loved Tivo. They we just pissing me off with HD. They want you spend all this money and then not know if your equipment will become a door stop in a year. I might go back once they have the HMC in place and HD locals. Until then I am enjoying my 811 and 522. Don't let all the negativity on the board scare you. PM me and I will let you know more about the deal I got.

Bill
