I am wanting to use my old direcduo dish for FTA on the 110 and 119 satelites. Do I have to hook up both LNB's to pick up both satelites or will my 2500 just be able to get the FTA channels off one LNB, and if so does it matter what LNB I use. I did read this thread but was confused. I am new to this and I am just trying to feel my way through it. Can you help me to understand it a little better. The dish that I have is oval shaped and says direcpc on itit has dual LNB's and I know it use to have the ability for high speed but that was never hooked up. Also would I be able to pick up any other satelites on this dish once I get it set for 110 and 119.

There is only 1 channel FTA at 110, and only a few on 119 (mainly audio) or are you trying to get ALL the channels on that sat?

Hello and welcome to SatelliteGuys.US

Depending on where you are in the country there were a few configurations for the DirecDuo Dish. Here in MN. the main KU LNB was pointing at the G4R (99w) satellite and the DBS LNB was pointing at DirecTV 101w. So one of your LNB is a KU LNB it will work for most KU FTA channels up there and your DBS LNB will work for the very few DBS FTA channels up there. Please have a look at the below link to see what you can get with your dish and the DBS LNB.

Dr. Hydro - I will be honest. I don't know what I am trying to get. I was told that there were free channels on those two satelites and to point my dish at them. But I was confused as to whether I could get both satelites on a single LNB or whether I had to hook up both LNB's and tell my receiver that 110 was on one and 119 was on the other. Is there another satelite I should point to that would be better?

110 and 119w. are the best DBS satellites for FTA (IMO) Check the above link for a list of all the DBS FTA channels you can expect to get. We like to give new members the benefit of the doubt here at SatelliteGuys.US FTA / MPEG-2 area. Have fun!

PSB- I am in the Texas area. I did read the thread you referred to am I to understand that I should use the right side LNB if i am standing behind the dish? Or does it matter?

DirecPC has 2 LNB's...a rectangle one and a "pencil" one.
The rectangle one will get the KU band stuff
The "pencil" one will get DBS stuff at 110 OR 119. It can't get both.

They are 2 different animals. The KU band stuff is what we normally shoot for. The "pencil" one you could aim at 119 for audio channels.

btw, if you like soccer goltv is the best channel that ever existed. i'm locked in there almost all the time. (when i'm not searching for feeds)

Please bear with me as I show my ignorance. First what is DBS? Secondly, When I was up on the roof I do not remember anything that looked like a pencil. I did see 2 cone shaped things that are mounted off center of the pole. One on each side. There may be something in the middle that is mounted inside the cover. But it is probably not hooked up. I would assume that the outside ones pick up KU band. But my original question is can i use either one of these or is one better than the other for picking up these two satelites?

DBS is digital broadcast satellite....Dish Network or DitrecTV
If it is a DirecPC dish, there should be 2 LNB's. One will work to get DBS and one won't :)

You should be able to take the cover off. I know on mine, one says "For DBS" or "For DirecTv". Thats the one you use

Thanks Iceberg. You have been very helpful. Would I be able to pick up the channels on the 110 and 119 satelite on the on my receiver without having to have a separate dish. In other words will the channels all show up on the receiver off that one LNB.

only the free ones that are on either 110 or 119
119 has NASA, Angel One and the audio
110 has Gol TV
