I have a HDTV (Samsung) which has a digital tuner, and although my primary TV service is Directv, and I only have basic cable through Brighthouse, I have found that in addition to the truly basic channels (2-27 and a few others up to 99) there are also 2 other types of channels which I receive:
- Digital versions of local channels, such as 610-1 (WTSP HD), 628-1 (WFTS HD), etc.
- Numerous channels with designations like 81-453, 88-109, etc. I think these are referred to as QAM's, but I could be wrong. Most of these apparently represent scrambled stations, and thus I cannot view them, but there appear to be several which are not scrambled. For example, 81-453 is CNN. What I would like to know is if these channels numbers are documented somewhere. This would not only allow me to have a list of what each of these channels is, but also allow me to remove all the scrambled channels from my TV's favorite channels list. This would be especially important because every time the power goes off (happens a few times here in Tampa during the summer), I have to go through this process from scratch.
