Did the older 4K Joeys come with the 40 remote?

I was under the impression the 4K Joeys always came with the 52, but was there ever a time that they came packaged with the older 40 remote? Maybe when the 4K Joey was first released?

Yes, the initial run of 4k Joeys were boxed before the 52 was available.

Ah ok. Also, do the Joeys need the external UHF antenna like the main Hopper 3 does, for the remote to work? And I'm assuming the smart card is also built into it, instead of being a separate card, right?

Joeys do not need an external UHF antenna, it is built in, just like its smart card....
