I had problems with HDMI on a 211 after getting a software update. Dish sent new receiver with 268 on it and worked perfect. I disabled software updates. I woke up this morning turned on tv and receiver and found no picture only sound. channeled up and had picture. channeled back down picture for a second then blank only sound. I then got picture back after reboot. Went into menu to check software version and its 340 now. Checked my update setting and its still set to disable......WTF

Isn't 268 still the current software version? It sounds like maybe this isn't software at all but instead maybe this is the HDMI mechancial problem some people have reported.

No, My receiver is showing L340

Also what kind of TV do you have due to that will make a diffrence?? Not all of the manufactures are having issues..

We have never noticed a trend on brand of TV as far as failure of the 211/411/622 HDMI port is concerned.

When your receiver's internal HDMI pins break, it maketh no difference what brand your TV is.

However some brands of TVs do have their own problems with HDMI connectors. So it is possible that a few people's connections have broken because of their TV. However I have yet to see a report from someone who got a replacement receiver and it failed to work, at least for a few days.

Just got home from work. I was able to play with it a little more. But anyways my tv is a VIZIO P50HDM. Probally not the greatest 50 inch plasma, but the picture is great. What I am seeing is a hand-shake problem via HDMI on the OTA locals only so it seems. When I switch channels and again I am only talking about the OTA LOCALS , there is a sudden picture and then it goes blank and sometimes it comes back and all is well and sometimes it does not requiring me to switch between analog HD input and back to digital HD input(HDMI). I am not seeing this blanking thing on my bedroom Samsung HDTV which is using the component outs of the 211. This HDMI blanking problem was not happening before the update, although I did have a lip sync issue on my OTA locals. I don't know if the OTA lip sync problem is still there or not because it seemed to come and go before. But right now it is in sync. Reciever also says I experienced 1 signal loss between 1:21a.m. 09/27 and 7:21 a.m. 09/27. Maybe my download was corrupted by it but I dont know if that's possible maybe some of you guys do. So there you have it and one more thing is there anyway I can reset the receiver to go back to software version L268.:(

P.S.
I also use a old 4dtv w/ HDD 200 and never have I had any problems what-so-ever as I have had with this junk DISHNOTWORK puts out. But then again maybe its my TV taking a Sh!t. :(

I am going to take my last comment back about my tv taking a dump. I just cheched my upconvert HDMI DVD player on digital HD 1, the same input the 211 was using and it is working fine even after several power off's and on's. So the title of this thread fits.

Out of curiosity, what brand of HDMI cable do you have and how long is it? I am wondering if maybe the software update loses the HDMI handshake with certain HDMI cables or lengths but not others.

Yeah I dont know what the E-mail address is I know someone has it but I would for sure E-mail.. Let them know your make of TV and let them know that this had just started on the last update. I got the latest update for the 411 and I had no issues with my Sony. But again send the a E-mail see what they say about it... I just order a 3ft HDMI cable from http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp and it was a great price no issues with it so far so I would recommend them.. Good luck let us know how things turn out.. :)

I got a HDMI 6 ft. cable from Monoprice.com connected to my 211 and I've never had problems with the HDMI connection. But I think I'm lucky that my 211 has been stable. The only problem I've had with my 211 is the toslink audio delay but that was corrected a few software updates before.

Yeah knock on wood I have had no issues with video or sound with my 411 and Sony TV..

Everyone that is haveing HDMI issue another thing to check is to see if your TV Maker makes Firmware Updates for your model. I know Sony does like my set has a USB port just for that.. So that is something else to check I'm sure not every maker will make firmware updates for their TV's. But the ones that do sometimes they will address issues like that with their inputs. Either way this is something else too look into if anyone needs help let me know... :)

I think its a 6 ft. GE brand, paid $34.95 for it at target. It is gold plated.
I also have a 4 foot monster brand that is being used with my up-convert dvd.
I really doubt the cables the problem. As it was working fine before. But I'll swap
them this weekend and see if it helps. It's kind of a pain to swap cables when my entertainment center is 2 inches away from the wall and each component is in it own compartment. My last 211 that Dish replaced, the HDMI was totally lost after a update. So this update was not as bad as that one as I still can get a picture.

Well, it doesn't sound like it is a cable to me either. I know some people have had problems with the
HDMI handshake over long cables(greater than 6 feet) and especially Major problems when the HDMI cable goes through a receiver.

I can't believe we have a new HDMI cable format and there are already 3 different versions and I especially can't believe all the B.S. that the media companies are putting us through with their
*%@#* copyright protections systems.

Yeah it might not be a cable issue but some cables seem to work better than others. Most time its not but just something else to try but like I said before also check to see if your TV has any firmware updates.. If you have problems trying to find out if they do just post the maker and model # and should be able to find out. Not all TV makers will write firmware updates for their sets some of them do so they can address issues that could come up.. Also the main thing is if anyone contiunes to have main issues after trying all of these things. Then make sure to always try another receiver have Dish send you a new one.

I tried my 4ft. monster brand cable and it did not work as I am still getting the HDMI dropped picture. My tv is a Vizio P50HDM. I could not find any firmware updates for it at Vizio web-site. I also emailed DISH tech support and let them no I am having issues with the 211's Hdmi out on my brand of TV that all started with the update. Does anybody no the number to DISH Advanced Tech support?
Thanks
