The last few days I have been putting together the mount I designed for the Prodelin 1.2M for the DG380 motor. I am up to the point where I next need to weld the U bolts on to this concoction of parts and need a measurement. I do not have the motor yet and am not sure when, but want to finish this mount. The question would be what is the length of the straight part of the 55mm shaft. I need this for correct spacing of the U bolts. Thought some one may know or have one they could measure for me.
Thanks,

RT.

RT if I had seen your post earlier before the rain started, I would've gone out there and measured for you. I'll see if I can get it for you tomorrow, rain or not. How much is your contraption going to weigh? If you go much past 32lbs or so, might be straining the motor, seems like I read once that the recommended limit was about 32-34lbs. They are stout little motors though, I have one of them.

Dish, arms, LNB, mount will total 35 lbs. Much lighter than the first attempt last year with the SG9120B. That motor could not recover back from 125W.
Thanks for the info...

 Weld???

That term does not show up too much on projects around here! It is usually stuff like duct tape, hose clamps, baling wire or zip strips that hold things together for most of us! ;)

Well......I do have an LNB held in place on the superdish with zip ties, but I haven't yet had much luck keeping steel together with duct or frog tape or even cyanoacrylate. I find the arc-welder does a better job.......Buzzzzzzzzzzap!

RT Cat,

Monday I will be moving my last two satellite dishes from the farm. One of them is my GeoSatPro 1.2M Ku band dish which has the DG-380 motor installed. I will measure the tube and post the information sometime Monday afternoon if no one replies to your Q before then.

You have 6.0 inches of straight tube on the 55 mm shaft. Measurement taken from inside the lip on the end of the shaft to the beginning of the inside bend. Good Luck!

Thanks turbo, Stay out of the rain. See below.

RT,

Can you put up a picture of what you have so far?
Not at this time. Too much of a funny looking thing. Maybe after it works. If it works. Gonna play like the Russians did in the space race. They never mentioned their failures.

Thanks, but migold has the answer.
Sorry once again on your move....

Thanks for the info. I can't do much today on it because of far too much "other" work that needs to be done.
Wow! 76.6 degrees outside. Finally some warmth.....

The straight part of the shaft seems to be appox. 5 1/5". Here is some pics of my 1.2m GeosatPro dish with
DG380 motor. The outer bolt spacing is appox 4 ". Here som pics. Hope this helps.

Glad somebody got to find the information for you RT, when I woke up-it was still raining and suddenly I remembered-Mother's Day! lol, thankfully I had already done my gift-shopping.
I just used muffler clamps to hold my little 90cm dish to the motor shaft, must've been a good thing because I can't tell that it has slipped off the arc in about 3yrs.

Happy to read you stayed out of the rain.
Muffler clamps are what I used on the mount I have on the PrimeStar with motor. Tried to pick up the two I needed and the auto store only had one. Inventory showed someone ripped off two others. More clamps will be in on Monday, so I will pick up the other one then. I couldn't work on it today anyway, because of finishing up the clean up of that BIG pine tree that came down last week in the wind. If this works and I can cover up my bad welds with paint, I may post a picture of the thing. I could weld good many years ago. Had to build a trailer hitch for my pickup many years ago when I built power lines all over Michigan. Pulled my travel trailer around job to job. Made the hitch so it could be unbolted from the truck. Those welds never broke and were very good.
