Is there a way, other than by priority, to designate which tuner the DVR will use to record a program?

In the attached photo I have Elementary and Shades of Blue recording tonight. I want to make Elementary record off tuner 2 like the programs prior to it on the same channel. That way anything that gets cut off at the end of one show will be recorded on the next one. I tried skipping both shows and restored Elementary fist. It would then be on tuner 2, but then we I restore Shades Elementary will go back to tuner 1. Elementary is priority 8 and shades is priority 40.

Yeah, the 2 tuners is limiting. This can be a problem for any DVR like the 2 tuner TiVo's and the nets running into the next few minuets of the the next hour. I would say Hopper 3, not just the Hopper/HWS:).

Or learn how to pad the recording time on your receiver to allow for overlaps.
looking at his screen shot, no amount of "padding" is going to work out properly. The limiting factor is the 2 tuners and the nets going overtime into the next hour.

I have an OTA adapter for the 722K, but I don't have an antenna. I live about 65 miles from the Charleston, SC towers and about the same from the Columbia towers. I have been putting off building an antenna to put in the attic but I may just have to do it.

The boss still watches a 32" SD TV so it would be hard to convince her that I need another receiver and another contract.

To the OP, there was a way on the VIP series to select the tuner for recordings. I unfortunately forget exactly how, as I haven't had one in a long time. Might I suggest setting a manual timer that covers both or all shows in one recording?

Go to menu, then preferences, then record plus, then choose which tuner you need as priority

Try set Elementary to start record 5 min earlier so you won't loose anything
