I think he is saying that he downloads torrents and rips his netflix rentals.

I just found out that XBMC is only a player not a source. So except for Netflix on line he isn't paying for the torrents. I understand that unless we pay something for the sources the will dry up in the future. Then there will be less to be able to download or go to the movies to see.

Because I had Dish too....

and when I left to get Directv I posted the reasoning why I left. Directv had the programming I wanted and Dish didn't. I didnt "trash" Dish on the board like some folks do. I posted the legit reasoning why I left and the "fanboys" still flamed me.

I never said I didnt like dish.

On these boards ( here and the 'other' place), it is all too often that when people make a switch for valid reasons, others are all over them about it.

When I switched from D* to E* a year or so ago, I did it because the darned HR21 I had was so slow that it was either switch before pitching the remote through the window or after. Other than that, I hadn't said much, and still caught a bit of hell over it. I liked D* and I also like E*, and in my case it really isn't about the programming because they both have enough of the channels I want.

So Bob, as I see it, there are 3 primary issues:

1. HD RSNs
2. Local HD LiL
3. Disney dispute

I also am cancelling Dish next week and am going to Direct. The final straw for me was the monthly receiver cost for OWNED receivers and Disney getting pulled leaving my daughter nothing to watch. I have Absolute so I don't get the SD version.

The 1st "quote" is exactly what D* has that E* doesn't...no way to spin that
The 2nd one was in response to someone telling Bob to dont let the door hit ya on the way out. Again look at the threads where long time E* folks are moving to D*
3rd one again is pretty much spot on...check the threads. Someone gripes about a D* issue we try to help them through it. E* folks will whine about someone whining

Maybe E* attracts that kind of person for some reason. Other than that I see no reason for why one forum attracts a bit more whiny bunch of people. It does bother me a little that lately you have started to confuse the E* equipment features w/ some of the D* equipment though.

I just want to see it happening too often. When they have happened & I thought it was more than once but could be wrong. It just was something that had happened when I hadn't been on the thread for a while and wouldn't have made much sense. So it just passed. Just want you to be careful is all. Why do you think that E* is different in the "whining". Seems like D* would have just as much?

Goaliebob, glad you are able to move and be happy with Direct, I think you will enjoy what I think was your number one issue and that is the full time HD with RSN's. In the end while we love our TV providers, we each have our alliance to each company for various reasons and thats not a bad thing.

While I may be wrong on this GB showed some pasion in his posts because he saw good with Dish and if they changed a few things that may have put him over the top in his mind as a provider, but for Many Dish subs as well they are happy with there current set up and channel selection and thats ok as well!!

Good luck Bob, enjoy the new found freedom. You were the voice of reason in this RSN circus. Still not sure how they get away with advertising these stations as hd even with the game only content disclaimier without disclosing not all games will be in hd. In a business sense I'm not sure what's left to be said about a man who refuses to offer the most storied and popular franchise in sports history to one of the largest metro areas in the world. The company line of we're trying to keep our customers costs down needs to be retired as I watch my receivers cost more and more . I suspect the real reason in to see his profits go up and up. This is America and he's free to make as much as he can, but I don't have to agree with his methods. Anyhow I'll be looking forward to your reports as I plan to join you over there when my contract is up.

Now that you have decided it would be nice if you would go away quietly. But I doubt that since you don't seem to do anything that way. I'm really really really really really glad that you decided to go away. I'm really tired of all the B'n that you do here all the time. Many of us just don't feel in any way the same as you and have gotten tired of the Bull.

You asked Charlie point blank on live TV, and he gave you an answer, 1 year, but you didn't even last 3 months.

I for one am glad Charlie isn't bending over to the sports networks. For a lot of us, we are saving way more than $2 a month with dish.

Perhaps you need to go back and watch some of those Charlie Chats of years past, when we were told HD RSN 'swould be coming "soon" and MSG HD would be coming "soon". 3-4 years later, still waiting for "Soon".

Dish lost me as a long time sub and a beta tester (over 5 years spending $80-90 a month plus an annual hockey subscription) because they failed to listen to their subs, regarding programing.

Dish should prepare themselves to fall down subscriber rankings, from 3rd behind Comcast and Directv, to 4th. as Time Warner Cable passes them by. Perhaps Charlie will wake up "soon" and realize he has a situation where he is losing longtime heavy spending subs for low end spending new subs.

D* isn't Cheap and Neither are the upgrades. But atleast its honest.
