D'Antoni to take Knicks job- WHAT IS HE THINKING??

I don't know what he is thinking either. He will regret it.

Phoenix is aging and management clearly isn't happy with this year's performance. In NYC the expectation levels can't be high following this year's dismal season. Even moderate improvement will be signs of life. Besides there's also the general rule: NYC= big pay days for coaches.

Hr, like everyone else, is thinking 2010. If th Knicks get a point guard in this draft, then clear up money by 2010, oh look who is on the block as free agents . . . LeBron and Wade. I see the sun in the horizon as a Knick fan!

This could work if they can get Derrick Rose. D'antoni's offense is completely reliant on a dominant pass first (with good shooting ability) PG and athetic bigs that can run and grab a high number of rebounds. Most of the Knicks bigs are big fat f**kers that dont run, jump, or rebound! This is going to require alot of work.

I don't see LeBron going ANYWHERE ...

I'll set the Over/Under at 1.5 seasons before he gets canned.

I say higher.
Thomas is STILL working there making money and cannot get canned.
He makes MILLIONS and has no one working under him and NO ONE above him to see if he's doing ANYTHING.
He has been miserable in NY from the beginning, and still has a job (sounds like Matt Millen)
Yet he STILL has a job .....

And you think D’Antoni can only be there for 1.5 years ????

You're lucky HD MM isn't logged on.

He would be all over you for that...

I think this basically says it all.

I dont think Lebron will leave for any teams, Lebron being a NBA history buff I think he wnats to play his entie career for one team like Magic and Bird did

Again, look at the playoffs this year. Yes the Cavs are doing well, but they are not a championship team and LeBron has to do most of the lifting; he will get tired of that quickly! Let's wait and see . . . and by the way, this is not the old days of "TeamLoyalty" anymore, but of "Money Loyalty" (i.e. Johny Damon)

Wade is going nowhere either. In the NBA, improvement can come quick, so long as there is room in the salary cap. EVEN if Marion decides to stay, Miami could have some where at least in the 15 million of free space in the cap starting next year and close to 20 million the year after. AND not to mention they might not be NO WORSE than the 4th overall pick in the draft this year... Mickey Aronson NOR team president Pat Riley is not gonna let Wade go ANYWHERE. NOT impossible, but HIGHLY improbable....

I still think Mark Jackson was the better choice than D'Antoni....I am really getting tired of the retread coaching system in professional sports....NONE worse than the NBA.

Will LeBron stay or go once his contract is up in 2010? This is the million dollar question that all of Cleveland is trying not to think about.

In the argument for LeBron staying in Cleveland........

LeBron was born and raised locally in Akron, Ohio. Don't forget that LeBron is a family man. His mother, girlfriend (High School sweat hearts), and two young sons are all living in Ohio and he's not likely to uproot them all for a move to another city.

LeBron also is in the process of completing an addition onto his home in a suburb of Akron. The renovation is due to be complete soon and will feature a casino, two-lane bowling alley, barber shop, aquarium, sports bar, theater and a recording studio.

The 35,000-square-foot, 11-bedroom home is built on 5.6 acres. 19 families live within 800 feet of James' new home and many wonder why James did not choose to live in a more secluded area. LeBron said that he wants to be near friends and family.

As far as money goes, under the current rules, only the Cav's could potentially offer LeBron a maximum contract of six years. Other teams could only offer a five year contract for a slightly smaller salary per year.

In regards to endorsement money, potential higher earnings in a bigger market is a bit overrated IMO. With today's world-wide media coverage, a mid-market star can still appeal nationally just as well. No matter where he goes, his fan base isn't likely to change dramatically.
