D11 USB Ports question

I've been using a usb cable for several months to allow my old ReplayTVs to control my two D11 receivers. Yesterday (12/20), the USB ports on both receivers stopped working. Of course, D* says that they never worked (which is either a lie or a policy statement) and won't give me any more info other then that they may enable them at some future date. Does anything know anything about this?

For what it is worth, I found out that the 12/19 0x1040 update for the D11 didn't disable the USB port, but it did change the communication protocol.
