D1000.2 with input from D500 at 129W?

I've searched, but with it is very difficult to search 3 character terms (129, lnb, etc). ;)

What I would like to know is what would happen in a scenario where the 1000.2 dish is receiving a 4th input from a Dish500 at 129W? In other words, getting signal from 129W from two different LNBFs.

Will it work without errors?

Will the system make use of the stronger signals from the wing dish?

Aside from using aluminum foil, is there some way to temporarily disable an LNBF on the D1000.2?

With the imminent switch to IPTV by Sky Angel, I am thinking of swinging my D500 around to 129W again.

Another option would be to use the D500 for 110/119 and use the center LNBF of the D1000.2 to peak on 129W. Now that would be interesting! Maybe I will take a stab at this if I can find some spare time. :D I suppose I would have to use the W adapter and a solo LNBF in the center position, though. I rather doubt the DPP Triple center out (event with only the one source) will successfully feed a DPP Dual input port.

PS: If it weren't for the "wobble" effect I would have no trouble with 129W on the D1000.2 here in deep south Texas. Using a D500 gives me about 90-95% success - no signal drop outs - on 129W from this location; Using a D1000.2 gives me about 60% success. Of course, that 40% is at the worst possible time!

Yes, you definately have to cover the main 129 lnb on the dish 1000.2 or it will only receive programming from that lnb, over the side sat dish for 129. I tried already and this worked but I ended up back using my main dish 1000.2 for 129 after I repeaked it for the best signal. My configuration is a dish 1000.2 and 61.5 on a side sat dish.

I guess covering it with foil is the easiset fastest way to do it

I'm a dish network installer.. and because of a co-working mounting a .2 with no LOS for 129* I had to follow back 6 days later and install the 61.5 location for HD, the rcvr kept trying to pull prog off the 129* .. rather then covering it up.. I popped the cap off and filled it full of foil then put it back on. Same fix except the guy doesnt have to look at foil and zipties. Either way though.

You also stated to peak 129* with .2 dish and use 500 for 119/110.. You couldnt actually do this, how would you combine the signals? You cant run 2 sat feeds 119/110 into the input on the .2 lnb, only one. You couldnt use a dp21 either.. nor any other switches capable of doing it at this time. If there is a way, I'de like to know.

Never thought about popping the cap off. I actually didnt know enough about the equipment to know if that would do damage and I wanted to avoid that.

Good idea, might do that when I get back home.

Good idea on the foil under the cap!

Wouldn't this be possible using the W bracket and a single LNB on the 1K.2 dish and then feeding that signal into the DPP Twin on the 110/119 dish?

I still have another D500 that used to be used for the 61.5 dish feeding the DPP Twin. I could still go that route and just use the 61.5 dish for 129. However, from the center LNB position of the 1K.2 I would expect to get a stronger signal - which would be very helpful since I am outside the official footprint of 129.

See working directly for dish that would never be an option for us, so that wasnt something I thought of, but yes I dont see any reason it would not work. If you end up doing that let us know what kinda strength you pull in.

I will. I will compare signal readings for 129 as mentioned above on a 1K.2 with readings for 129 on a D500.

Granted, this may not happen for some time. As long as I continue to receive Sky Angel at 61.5 I will have no compelling reason to add 129 (currently not a part of my setup). Although with football season coming, I may feel a greater need to pull in certain channels that are at 129 :D
