ME TOO !!:upActually I would rather have the 720p over the 1080i for sports any day, mainly for the refresh rate.

The RC64RB may have the right code(I have an Onkyo receiver TX601 and the RC64RB works for me). Call Directv and see if you can get them to exchange the remote for that one. The volume control should work tho on one of those that turns it off, for the time being.
Yes the poor DVR was another factor. Well I didnt sign anything. SO far the biggest problem is none of the Onkyo codes work for my reciever TXNR801 . 2 turn it off but not on and 2 turn it on but not off. No volume control SUCKS!!!!!! The HDTivo had the right code, for the life of me I dont see how they have gone backwards on this.
Let us know how this turns out, I'm using Onkyo too.
You might want to check out DirecTV | Device Code Search which shows all the D* remotes and what code might work.
It works(at least for my TX-SR601). I already have it. It's too bad tho, that the separate On/Off buttons that turn the TV & HR20 on and off, don't turn the TV and Receiver on/off instead tho. That would make the remote be just right
That site didn't initially give me the correct code for the RC64RB, when I type in my Onkyo TX-SR601. It told me code 30135 should work, but only turn the device off and not on. The correct code, that works(on/off/volume) for my receiver is 31805(taken from the manual that came with the remote). It did sho it in the list, when I said the initial code didn't work, however.
FYI, that 31805 code does NOT work on the RC34, that came with the HR20.
ESPN is shot in 720p just like ABC and FOX I think. Id rather they deliver 720p in 720p. less conversion the better. But as far as 720p being the best for sports thats hogwash. NOTHING comes close to pristine 1080i NFL football on CBSActually I would rather have the 720p over the 1080i for sports any day, mainly for the refresh rate.

I disagree ! CBS HD is the worst. Progressive scan can't be beat when it comes to sports. Thats a fact!ESPN is shot in 720p just like ABC and FOX I think. Geez the RC34 they gave me isnt even on that page. You might want to check out DirecTV | Device Code Search which shows all the D* remotes and what code might work.
Your local must be multicasting. Id suggest you do a poll on CBS HD NFL quality over at AVS so you can see how silly that statement is. FOXHD at 720p will never hold a candle to it. Its very rare that you can make out the individual blades of grass on any NFL football that isnt CBS 1080i. Given proper bandwidth 1080i puts 720p to shame.I disagree ! CBS HD is the worst. This is why I love my Harmony 880
I wonder how they enforce that without a contract.Even if you didn't sign anything D* has you for another 2 years if you upgraded your equipment like you stated.
:up:up:upThe CBSHD West 1080i that dishnetwork had was highbit rate and beat the heck out of the 720p Fox and Espn Football broadcasts imho...
Well I guess if was able to get any HD locals from E* I could compair them . But since I don't I guess a West coast CBS dosen't do much good for an East coast customer. The CBSHD West 1080i that dishnetwork had was highbit rate and beat the heck out of the 720p Fox and Espn Football broadcasts imho...

I used to get it with D* tv. But now with the DNS rules I can only have Fox 88 But maybe CBS is better now then I remember it . Is it in MPEG 4 yet?I too enjoy NFL HD via CBS 1080i a bit better than via FOX 720p. BUT ESPN 720p is a bit better than the FOX; IMHO. So my non-scientific conclusion, with MY HT setup, is that it lies with the production value/quality/care the network adheres to, rather than the particular resolution itself or alone.
