Now that Nexstar owns WGN-TV 9 and is majority owner of CW, they will reverse the channel swap they made starting in 2016 moving to a secondary affiliation on Fox-owned MyNetworkTV affiliate WPWR-TV 50 "My50" and most recently, Weigel Broadcasting's WCIU-TV 26 "The U" back in 2019.
Weigel is expected to change the branding of WCIU-TV 26 back to "The U" this September.

The switch begins in September 2024, just in time for the new TV viewing season.
