Anyone know what is in the heart of the 622?
Aren't these DVR boxes essentially PC's running Linux or some variant?
Any detailed information "out there" about the components that make up the 622? Too early to tell?

Anything else like modding the software is hacking and can not be discussed here ;)

Doht! I wasn't hinting at that. However... :p Just kidding. I wouldn't know the first OR last thing about how these work
I guess we'll get into trouble if we open our 622 to take a looksy?

all satellite receivers are "hybrid reciever/computers" essentially.(they even have a modem)
DVRs even more so because of addtion of a harddrive and fan.
This is why they have to "reboot" sometimes. :)

It is essentially a specialized computer, not exactly a PC.
Depending on what you mean by PC. Not all computers are PC's. ;)

I don't know if this is the case with the 622, but with some equipment this could void the warranty/service agreement.

Sometimes? My 811 doesn't even have a hard drive and I have to reboot it about once a day.

Dish Home Protection question

Bob is mad at Dish and he has a good reason why. :)
