It's been so long since I put 2025a in my Coolsat, that I'd forgotten about this bug... or should I say step backward with respect to firmware updates. Since most of my sat viewing is on AMC21, it was the first sat I programmed in, so of course I took one of those User sats, and named it AMC21, only to find out that you can't give it a longitude. I WAS going to create 2 AMC21s, which is what I had done with older firmware, ie one for my fixed Primestar, and one for my motorized Fortec, however I just decided to use the USER AMC21 for my fixed dish, which worked OK. Only annoyance is that the sat is in the wrong place relative to where it is in the sky. I guess, since the motorization of my C-band dish is done via my Drake, if I had it to do over, I might have renamed G-14 as AMC21-Fortec, then used USER sats for G-14 and AMC21-Primestar.
This whole nightmare was predictable, because the satellite list is not part of the channel data file, and Coolsat seems to have a very convoluted way of storing all the data. Most receivers keep the sat parameters separate, and have the channel data just refer to the specific satellite, so if you have a channel defined, and later change the sat parameters, like for example maybe it's on port 3 instead of port 2 on a switch... then you change the sat parameters, and everything was OK, but with the Coolsat, the satellite parameters seem to me partially in the channel data, and partly in the sat data.
I've read posts from people who seem to be able to restore channel data with the 2025a firmware. It didn't work for me, however it's been so long, I can't remember what problem I ran into.
Anyway, long ago, I decided that this Coolsat just was not capable of being a primary receiver. Just too many firmware bugs, that I think may not be correctable. I've pretty much got mine just devoted to fixed AMC21 and C-band use, and also for searching for FEC and Pilot data on DVB-S2 signals, but even this has been messed up in the 2025a firmware, as they now require 2 or 3 extra remote keystrokes for each FEC/Pilot combination you try. I already use my pirate software disabled Diamond 9000 as my primary receiver, even though it stutters badly on high bitrate channels that the Coolsat plays perfectly, but the Diamond is just so much more user friendly. Now that I have an Azbox on the way, I think that my Coolsat will be reduced in stature even more.... perhaps slaved to the Azbox, but since I've run out of HD ports on my TV, it may be sitting on the shelf pretty soon.
