According to http://www.sat-sales.com, Coolsat is releasing the Coolsat 7000 Micro PVR in the middle of April. The price $229.95 is very much better than Viewsat 7000 PVR (about $319.95).

I've been eyeing the Neosat Ipro 2000 for $200. You can use whatever USB drive you want for the PVR storage.

It sounds okay not not astoundedly advanced over my old Fortec Ultra. I'm not sure how valuable it would be to me to be able to tape 40 minutes of a show.........get that up to two hours and I might be interested. The USB support and ability to hook up an external hard drive, however, is a good idea. I didn't see anything in the specs about HDTV. I don't know if you can pick up HDTV on FTA anyway so maybe that point is mute.

I read the 40 minute thing as a live TV buffer - like Tivo does for 30 mins. Looks like you could also use that to store recordings but as you said - that's worthless.

The CS8000 was a let-down for me and no mention of HD on this box makes it yet another I won't concider.

Yea, it's a copy 'n paste of someone's advertizing info.
While heavy-handed, it's still of interest to this group.
Well, at least to me.

1). I read: "40 minutes on 1gb internal flash drive."
I think it's implied that with a 500gb HD, you might get a bit more.
2). Yea, the EPG means they're going to support hackers
3). blind scan? If true, this is by far the most interesting feature!
4). component and Svideo out? Sounds good to me.
5). optical audio out - it'd darned well better have this and it'd better work!
6). upgrades via USB/RS232 - well, RS232 is common; the USB could be handy.

So, I find the specs interesting.
However, several similar units are currently on the market.
Some of them don't live up to their claims (nor my expectations).
So, I do not automatically embrace this one, either.
It's gotta hit the shelves, get reviewed, show that it all works, and maybe then...I'll go buy one.

If it had a network connection and allow EPG information from the likes of zapit, TitanTv or similar (like MythTv), then the EPG would be useful.

I see that the neosat pvr does have a network connection, but don't see any information for it's use (maybe to automate firmware updates).

Someone on another forum mentioned a lyngbox that would connect to lynsat network for information....probably vaporware....

Yes....getting our hopes up again for another PVR. It would be nice to have one that actually works and you can easily transfer your recorded shows to your PC.

The "Perfect" FTA receiver still seems to be resting in a room with the Holy Graile

Until they uncover it, I'll go the PCI card/PC route for HD, 4:2:2, and PVR functions.

Not that I think many care about this receiver here, but it's available for pre-order shipping 3rd week in april from Dishjockey website for those that are interested.
