I contact satellite uplinkers / sat providers every day! But in my case, its because im usally working at the event and am the uplinker or apart of the crew, and its an aspect of my part time job. (In my case its totally acceptable) But as a fellow free to air guru, it is totally irresponcable to do so, if you loose a feed or channel and are 1. not apart of the uplink chain, or 2. apart of the downlink provider. One thing that I have learned is that Free to air has a very very very bad name with uplinkers. It's almost a forbidden part of the job as its now assocated with hacking. While it may be a common ground and getting on the bird right is a very big thing, say Free to air and you could be toast!
