Connecting DSR 505 to LCD monitor with DVI

I tried connecting my DSR 505 to a Viewsonic 2235 LCD via DVI but receive this message:
Out of Range
H. Frequency 3.3 kHz
V. Frequency 60 Hz
That is obviously out of range of the monitor. It there any way around this? Do I need a converter to change the DVI to VGA?

I have the 505 and a viewsonic 2750 with DVI connected. one of the things most people were doing was, unplug both receiver and TV and then plug in the receiver first then TV and turn on 505 first then tv and scroll through your sources to DVI. I haven't had a problem ever, but, this seemed to work for a lot of people. cheers
