Congrats to the Colorado Rockies!

Oh come on Sean, it's only one game. Do you remember the 1982 WS when the Brewers beat the Cardinals 10 to 0 in the first game and the Cardinals went on to win the WS?

While I agree that Boston is almost invincible at home and they have a very strong team, wait until they play the games. I think the Rockies will win a couple of games at least.

Rockies have not pitcher that can stop Manny or Ortiz! Rockies need to show that they belong in the same field with the Red Sox tonight. Last night it was clear that the Rockies did not belong in the same field!

Oh come on Sean! That's BS! The Rockies have 1 player that has WS experience. These guys are all young with most of them having only 1-3 years major league experience. They were awestruck, as well as VERY outpitched by Beckett. Tonight's game is much closer, now if they could just get some of those damn runners on base in! :(

Let's see-

Ortiz - 1 for 3, strikeout, walk
Ramirez - 1 for 4

Holliday - 4 for 4, picked off 1st :(

P.S. - I don't see your Yankees on TV tonight.......:p

Manny and Ortiz seem to be the worst hitters the Red Sox have in the series.

In fact they will probably have Ortiz sit out in Colorado since there are no DH's in the national league.

With the slump both players have been in,it has really shown off the rest of the Red Sox players, and has turned them into a team instead of just the David and Manny show.

The point is that both of these guys intimidate pitchers and therefore make everyone else better in the line up.

You can kiss your beloved Rockies a goodbye kiss because Boston is going to sweep them out their brains. They do not belong in the same field as Boston.

This post should be part of "Why BoSox Fans are Annoying - 101," filed next to "Beginners Guide on How to Handle Obnoxious Cub Fans." :D

Sean, don't you lose your NY card for supporting Boston?:D

Well, it looks like a sweep will be inevitable. A few more innings and sox will be 3-0... Red Sox fan? Nope... Just reality....
nah, I dont think there will be a sweep. If I were Boston I would mail in the next two games, rest everyone and start Beckett in Game 6 at home for a blow out win. ANd the celebration on the home field would be just so much nicer.

On another note Francona is a genius! Plays Ortiz instead of Youk just at the right time (he drove in a run last night) when everyone is telling him to sit him. Sits Crisp and starts small ball Rookies Ellsbury and Pedroia who produce in Colorado on that big field knowing that HR's will be hard to come by there. Amazing! They simply have a great team that can be configured for power or speed and hitting

But the guy is NOT a BoSox fan. In fact we understand the position of rockies fans here. we want the Sox to win but we are not in the mood to lord it over anyone---and Cub fans seldom have the opportunity to do so.

No matter what happens tonight or the rest of theway---if there si one I hope that Rockies fans can savor the accomplishmetns of this team. What they did to get here is nothing short of phenomenal.

What hurt the Rockies was the prolonged inactivity between the NLCS and World Series. They lost the drive and momentun they had going into the WS. I wonder if we had gotten different results if the Diamond Backs had stretched the Rockies longer to a game 6 or 7.

I don't know Sean but the Rockies were just outplayed in every area by the Red Sox. The inactivity might have affected their game but they just got their butt kicked, fair and square.

I agreed Randall. Game one did it for me. I watched that game and if you see my post, to me it looked like the Rockies were no match for Boston. They looked like a triple AAA team. The Red Sox were the better team on the field and they demonstrated that. I did not think before the series started that the Red Sox were going to sweep them but after watching game 1, I said to myself this is a guaranteed sweep (see my posts earlier).

wow I am shocked. I never imagined sweeping them after all of the COlorado Hype. And I thought Francona made it closer than it had to be this morning. I would have started Paplebon in the 8th and not given up the runs. I was yelling at the TV for him. 6 outs left in the season? send in the executioner, IMO.

My oldest daughter used to do gymnastics at a pretty high level. She always finished well in the standings UNLESS she thought she didn't deserve to be at a particular meet. In that case, she would perform at a level where she didn't belong there, and often finished at the bottom of the standings.

That was the feeling that I got with the Rockies. They simply didn't play at the level they were capable of, and the results showed. I don't think the layoff had much to do with it. I think it was more a matter that they got an "I'm not worthy" vibe at making the series.

The 9 day layoff was the biggest factor in Colorado losing. They would have been a lot tougher if the series started a week earlier. Congratulations Boston.

Wrong and wrong. The colorado rockies did not perform up to their usual level because of BECKETT, SCHILLING, Matsuzaka, Paplebon and Lester.

What A Embrassment
