Confusion over 1st bill-Can you help?

Hi, I signed up for Dish on 5/28/05. I got 2 HD receivers and a promo for 3 months- top 180 channels @ $19.95/Month. One major issue only on billing. I was told I would get a $49.99 credit on my 1st bill. I was charged $49.99 on a credit card up front to process the phone order and get an install date. I was installed on 6/7/05. I got my 1st bill about 3 days later. It showed 1 credit of $49.99 per agreement. However, Dish charged me another activation fee of $49.99 on 6/7/05. My credit card was charged $49.99 on 5/28/05 on the phone. The bill shows a credit of -$49.99 on 5/28. Dish recharged me the 2nd activation fee on 6/7.

I was charged $49.99 twice, but only credited back once on the 1st bill. I called Dish asking why I had to pay $49.99 on my credit card. I told them I was charged $49.99 a 2nd time on their bill. I talked to a CSR. She was dense, rude, and stupid. She insisted I was not being cheated. I asked for a supervisor and 20 minutes later I talked to her. Same story. All they did was go over the bill line by line. I ended up paying Dish $35.65 for 2 months up front. I paid my credit card co. $49.99. Where was the free activation fee? I was only supposed to be charged $19.99 X 2 + $4.99 for the second receiver, plus tax. I'm very good with figures, but I don't get this at all. As to the CSR & Sup., both were foreigners who hardly spoke english and were argumentive. The sup. hung up on me when I disagreed with her for the 3rd or 4th time. I wish I never signed up with Dish. I was dumb enough to sign on for 2 yrs. When it rains hard the dish goes out. I was very happy with C-band, but it's all but gone now. Can anyone help me on this billing question? Why am I out the $49.99 on my credit card? Why does Dish charge 2 months in advance? Thanks for any help.
 
With Dish, you pay one month in advance, so on your first bill, you have to pay for the current month AND the next month, to get the billing started, which is why you paid for two months to start out. All future bills will be for only one month.

As for your other billing problems, you might call back and talk to another CSR (CSR Roulette is a term you'll hear alot) as you might get a more helpful one that knows what is going on...they might even speak English!

Another route, is to email the Dish Executive office (ceo@dishnetwork.com) for help. Explain the problem you had in your email, and include your account number and phone number that you can be reached, and someone will likely contact you in a day or two. These folks a generally very helpful.
 
Thanks. I did call 2 other times prior to the call I referenced. I will e mail the higher ups. The whole company seems to be made up of incompetant fools. All they care about is money! Customer satisfaction is NOT their goal.
