Let me preface this post by pointing out that I have very limited knowledge of Satelite Installation but rather than pay DirecTV hundreds of dollars I'm turning to this message board for help. I just moved from a house where I was using what I believe was a Slimline-5(SWM) dish and a HR-23-700 set top box. The house I moved too had a dish already installed (the dish is shared with the neighbor).

So, coming into the new house are two coxial wires, one with red tape. I believe the new dish to be a Slimline-5. I am of the understanding that one of the three "nodes" and the end of the dish actually contains 3 lnbs making this dish the Slimline-5. Also, this dish at the new house says it contains a built in multi-switch. My question is how do I go about configuiring this dish. I have selected the Slimline-5 from the configuration menu as well as selected "multiswitch" from the switch option. However, with these settings I am not receiving a signal from 113.

My questions are: do I have the right dish, am I missing a component from the setup (switch?, swm box?), do I have the right options selected while configuring the box? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Not sure if that was a type or not, but Directv does not have a satellite at the 113. The available satellites would be the 99, 101, 103, 110 and 119. If the dish itself has a built in multi-switch and there are no other external multi-switches connected, then keep in mind that you will need 2 separate coax lines connected to your HDDVR for full functionality.

After tracing those 2 lines in your house to be sure they go to the dish, I would set the dish type to 04:Slimline-5 and switch to 02:multiswitch. If the verification gives you errors on the 110 or 119, just hit continue, and after everything is finished loading, be sure to check your locals. If you get errors on the 99 and the 103, then your dish may be an older 3-lnb that is not capable of getting HD signal. Does your neighbor have HD?

Also, you may need to update your address with directv or have them resend authorizations to your receiver after you get up and running if you are getting the wrong locals in your guide.

Indeed I meant 103. I've followed the steps you've described and it appears to be working fine. There were errors connecting to 119 however. What am I missing out on by not connecting to 119?
