Hmm, that Madcatz, that seems so cheap. It always worries me when something that claims to do the same thing ranges from $30 to $300 in price. Anyone know the bandwidth on that thing?

Hey I live in New Zealand and we use the PAL colour system. I wanted to buy that Pelican Universal System Selector Pro HD Model 960 or 957 but I dont know if it's compatible with PAL systems. Do any of you know and if it doesnt work do, do you think i should buy this? http://www.gamesman.co.nz/product.php?id=3062 . I could just put the router in my room for ethernet. Also the price is in NZD if you think its a rip off.

In the latest sound and vision magazine (July/August 2004 issue), on page 99 at the bottom left, they have small blurb about a component switcher called the MadCatz HDTV Component System Selector for $30. 4 inputs. I really think it means 3 inputs, one output, but I'd have to check the wb site:

That's what I think I'm going to get.

I hope its not the same MadCatz that makes gear for the playstation 2 and other gaming systems...there stuff is generally cheaply made and doesnt work very well. But Im not sure its the same company.

if you want to save the money two things you can do if you got a hdtv projector then it will only cost you $10 to get a 4 way rgb switcher then you get the rgb plug adaptor from infocus another $10 that converts rgb to component or build one yourself for next to nothing. Another option buy last years JVC hdtv d-vhs video recorder model refurbished for cheap price around $300 i think and just run the component inputs through there and use the jvc as the switcher.

This is a good option for SD material but not for HD. Thought the JVC does scale the output to 480p, it's not HD.

I now use my Panny E85H in the same way, my JVC is now semi-retired and is used just for playback of DTheater tapes. The Panny cleans up SD material and makes it more presentable on my pj.

I'm using this Radio Shack product in both my home and office for Component switching.

It's $19.95, nothing fancy, and works fine. Even though it's intentended for Stereo Audio and Composite Video, it works fine for me. Note: When using for Component switching, it does not switch audio for you too. This didn't bother me, because my audio receiver had many more inputs remaining, while my HDTV did not.

The following site sells the Zektor HDS4, as well as the HDS4.2, including a free bonus package (It does sell at list-$299). They also sell the Video-Storm CSM42 4-to2-Matrix Switcher and it seems to be much like the Zektor but is capable of sending any 2 of the 4 inputs to two different sources.
