I agree a Tivo or Tablo is a lot of money just to get the guide. I did buy a little HD converter box that I can run a thumb drive to make it a DVR. The guide goes out on that 24 hours. That is a great idea, to take the OTA channels w/o a guide and if Dish carries it, put both on a separate fav list together. For me, that would be Comet and Justice. I get the OTA guide for Get TV, Decades, MeTV. Dish does not carry Stadium or Qwest.
I've actually been spending a lot of time lately researching OTA set top boxes. The one I have my eye on right now is the Channel Master Stream + that has two tuners and a 14 day guide that's included for free. The only problem with this box though is that it will only work on one tv, we have three. My plan is to drop the Dish locals at some point but there are times when we need more than two tuners for recording network/local programming. I wish AirTV would come up with a quad tuner model
