Anyone know how soon it will be launched? Installer this weekend said they are not even done with the software...

Well there's 2 different creatures on the horizon.

Tivo announced the new series 3 with supports CableCARD 2.0. According to a news story, "TiVo claims that this unit will ship in mid-to-late 2006, I've got my money on late 2006".

Then there the Tivo software that is supposed to run on top of the existing DVR platforms that Comcast has in place. It will be a $3 (supposedly) addon on top of the existing DVR fee.

Under the terms of the agreement, Comcast and TiVo will work together to develop a version of the TiVo service that will be made available on Comcast's current primary DVR platform. New software will be developed by TiVo and will be incorporated into Comcast's existing network platforms. The new service will be marketed with the TiVo brand, and is expected to be available on Comcast's DVR products in a majority of Comcast markets in mid-to-late 2006.

And Tivo has publically said (Last summer), that the firmware upgrade for motorola hd dvr boxes was to be November, 2005

That came and went, without a peep.
