Ok, so we built our house some year BC (before cable? or the other bc). Not really but close.
We put in Belden 8241 (RG-59/U) coax cable which appears to be a solid copper core and a copper braid shield, appearing to be one shield layer.

Reading other posts it seems people are recommending Belden 7915A or 7916A (RG-6/U)now, which appears to be a solid copper core and 3 or 4 aluminum shields.

Searching the 8241, it is much more expensive than the 7915 or 7916, so the question comes to mind, is it better?

Our use is for cable tv at the present and much of the wire is exposed in the basement and can be swapped out if to advantage.

It is almost impossible to run the coax away from electric wiring down there because everything enters in the same corner of the basement.

So how does the 8241 RG-59 stack up to the 7915/7916 RG-6 for the use?
Should we swap out what we can?

Yes, swap out all you can, RG6 is way better for all uses, not just Satellite. The RG59 is most likley only sweep tested to 1Ghz, whereas the RG6 will be at least 2Ghz and might even be 2.4Ghz, which will result in way better performance with Sat signals.
