CNN and HLN gone/ Dish-Turner Dispute - Now Back 11/21

Well, that's mostly true. Has has the option to bid on the package when the contract is up but Dish is never willing to pay the going rate. I'm glad they don't because it's a tremendous waste of money.
Well, if that's the case, then no one else is willing to pay the ongoing rate, which includes giants like Comcast and TWC. I'd say it's not a case of being cheap, but the exorbitant cost of the exclusivity agreement.
I don't give a flip about CNN or HSN, but I DO like Turner Classic Movies, and am hoping this mess ends soon.

Technically, if they do not offer it anymore, you are not paying for it. Whether or not your bill changed or not, you still are not paying for it, otherwise it would be a series of channels they could offer(whether offered or not). Again, this is technically. That said, as @dare2be mentioned previously, Disney settled a contract with Dish earlier in the year, and its almost a guarantee that the price difference that Dish has had to start paying them, compared to the difference of what they are no longer paying for Turner is greater, yet nobody complained that Dish did not raise their rates for that change. If you are going to accept the pro's, you have to be willing to accept the Con's as well.
I thought the understanding was a big part of last year's increase was in anticipation of the Disney deal.
It is Cary Grant month... a bad month to not get TCM!

Longer they stay off the more likely I can get another bunch of money off per month and more free premiums 
I really don't care - I can stream most of these channels online free if I really need to watch something like yesterday when they had that comet landing. I just hope its the other side that gives in and NOT Dish so come Feb maybe our bills won't go up or won't go up much.

I was going to play devil's advocate and say "they still list it" but checking packages here, http://www.mydish.com/upgrades/english-packages/?WT.svl=upgrades-subnav, it appears that they've removed CNN and Headline News (I didn't look for TCM). They do still list it in the program guide though....
I don't care one whit about the cost differences between Dish and DirecTV; in fact, in the short run, I don't care what happens, because I have plenty of TCM stuff archived on EHD that I can watch.
Long term, if Charlie carries out his threat to drop Turner "for ever", I will have to choose between the stuff I have already recorded on EHD and the vastly greater quantity of stuff I haven't recorded, which I can only get from a provider that has TCM.
Unless someone figures out a hack to break the link between EHD and a Dish subscription ...

Way off, hardly Tampa, I said $3 to $7 saving, for my family thats exactly right.If everyone is happy that Dish is fighting for you and keeping your prices lower, then so be it.I for one am not.There are many instances where dish has failed to keep our prices lower, and are now closer in price to dtv, than they have ever been.My point remains dish pulls, drops, has more contract disputes than dtv, and what good does it do us.Show me the proof.

They are still offering us almost the same channels with superior equipment for a lower price. Even if Dish was the exact same price I would still stay with Dish because the Hopper is better. Why switch to a company that has equipment that isn't as good and is more expensive all because they don't have disputes as often? It's like people are just frustrated and feel they need a change even though it may not actually be better for them.
I think dish fighting hard, is actually what gives the other companies leverage in their contract negotiations. Almost every contract has a clause that it must offer a similarly priced product as competitors. That was included in the ESPN lawsuit that dish won(the small one. Was like $3M)
After having spent nearly a couple of weeks with a Directv system, I would happily spend $7.00 more per month to keep Dish.
